That's right, it's back,

The 2007 WWS Coaster Draft

You may realize, that it is not jimths08 who is running the draft for this summer. He has recently said that he will not have much access to internet and so with his permission I have decided to run this year's draft.

Object and Order of Events:
The 2007 draft will have 12 slots so as to create a smaller draft with less wait time. The positions in the draft will be chosen with numbers in the same way as it was done last year. Every participant will choose a number between 1 and 100. I will have someone completely non-affiliated choose the number and participants will pick coasters depending on who is closest to this number.

In order to allow every person to pick first at least once, there will be 12 coasters per park and 12 rounds in the draft. The person who picks first at the beginning of each round will choose last in the next round.

Six members will be invited to participate. The other six spots will be filled by lottery from the people signing up. In this way, the sign up time is not extremely important. The sign up lottery will be handled the same way as the draft positions.

Now, to go over some important rules:

Banned: If for any reason you are banned during the draft, you will forfeit any picks that come up during the time you are banned, no exceptions. Also, if it is a permanent ban, you are eliminated from the draft. So stay out of trouble.

Coasters: Your coaster can be from anywhere and must be an active coaster. If a coaster is experiencing downtime, this does means it's considered an active coaster. But if a coaster has not run in over a year or so or is not even standing any longer, it's not active. This includes SBNO coasters. Also, once a coaster has been picked, you may not pick it. However, if there are clones of that coaster, you can pick those. Be specific in what coaster you pick by also naming the park it resides at.

24 hours: When it is your selection, you have 24 hours from when the person before you has selected their coaster to pick your coaster. There will be no exceptions to this rule. If you are late you will not be able to choose a coaster for that round. We will go by the time of the original post as the next deadline. The time of any edits will not be used.

You can't be online all the time: If for some reason, you think that you won't be online during your pick because of any reason, PM me your selection of coasters in the order that you would want them and I will pick for you on your behalf. Remember, I cannot always be there to make your pick. This is only a service that can be provided with plenty of time in advance.

Voting: Vothing will be handled in a second topic which will be posted here on WWS. Participants may elect to create a park write-up to describe their park. This write up must be short and brief. You may included links to pictures.

Sign up will begin on Monday June 25, 2007 at 9:00 am site time. It will last for 48 hours to allow people not invited plenty of time to sign up. In the meantime, you may post questions regarding the draft. I will not be participating, only running and supervising the draft.

I would like to thank jimths08 as some of the parts were typed by him and used in previous drafts.

Good luck,
Woodie Man

Gerstl:

The general premise is: you choose roller coasters that you want to put in a fantasy park. It works similarly to a sports draft. If you want to see how the past drafts have worked look here. You can also use the forum search to check out the 2006 draft.

Ahh...so let me see if I get this:

You want to pick the most interesting/creative/diverse/extreme/exciting coasters to go into a make-believe park and you want to end up as the member with the most popular park?

^Pretty much. You have to balance the straight-up best coasters with coasters that make a complete park and attracts all age groups and cover all types (invert, wood, shuttle, launched, looper, hyper, etc.)

Hyyyper, no offense, but your last win was sooooooo tainted. It doesn't matter though, I'm the defending champ of this particular draft [:p]

Well this sounds exciting. I was reading the beginning of the 2005 draft. Apparently people thought this was stupid and pointless? What's the opinion now? Anyways, I want to get signed up for this, so I'm pulling out all night to make sure I get my spot on the list (if I go to sleep, I won't wake up early enough)...

Umm, my interest in coasters (except riding the real ones) has somewhat decreased... I think I won't join and (a bit sadly) leave my spot to someone more enthusiastic about it. Well, except if you don't find 12 members. [;)] *g* Have fun, guys!

So that 9:00 AM thing doesn't even matter and I just stayed up all night long to ensure that I get a spot here for nothing?

Whatever, just in case, I'll post this at 9:00

Sign me up, please.

There should be like 10 because sign-ups didn't start until ten minutes ago. Anyone that overlooked that isn't technically signed up. That includes you EElover2...

No, you guys needed to read the rules when Woodie Man changed them in post 5.

6 active members from the site are invited to participate, in order to maintain the integrity of draft and allow those that deserve it to take part. The other 6 spots are up for grabs and will be determined by a lottery that includes everyone that signs up. Thus the time you sign up is tottaly out of the question. It was difficult for Woodie Man to make it fair for everyone that would like to participate. Id had to be done though.

Ian, I would reccomend you make 2 lists, one containing invites and one containing the lottery.

Members that have been here for a long time and are respected. Also, they are active on both the forum and the exchange.

As in me, Jakizle, and I think Gerstl could be included.
