Alright, I'm steppin' up to the plate again. I'm going to try to put together another Gerstlauer (Bobsled), however this one will have my full commitment and I'll to be detmermined for excellence in tech (as opposed to African Bananas [lol])

This one will be pushing it for a Bobsled. It will be exceptionally long, in which the case that I plan on it being a scenic journey fits the spot naturally. Expect a lengthy design with many terrain interactions, dips, and twists. I also aim for pleasurable airtime in this track, so that'll be something to look forward to throughout the entirety of the ride as opposed to those few bunny hops at the end of the modern bobsled...

http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/p3665

Stay tuned for updates, although they won't be coming up in the near future as I have laid the tracking for the first quarter of the way, and now it is the time for smoothing and modifying (a new tactic for building roller coasters that I am experimenting with)

It's nice to see someone using this under appreciated coaster style. Bobsleds have always struck me as interesting coasters and I'm sure yours will turn out great. It seems like someone crazy about Gerstlauer would be the one to build a good Gerstlauer coaster.

My only concern is that the elements look way too big. The straights between the mouse turns are way too long IMO and helix at the end looks too big to be exciting off of a MCBR.

The tech aspect looks pretty good though.

Good point. I'll need to shorten up the straights. However, The helix actually sustains decent speeds from the beginning and that's not even the helix of interest. There will be a crossover down into another helix which will be faster speeds and higher g's. Sort of like a Timberland Twister deal.

EDIT: Alright I looked over that section for a bit, and shortened/tightened up the lateral turns. The helix was also tightened [;)]

Every single peice of track should be a point of interest. As Bobsled cars do not spin, that helix looks pretty boring. You can only be going so fast off of that MCBR. Just tighten' her up!

'Tis lookin very nice. Glad you are going for excellence in Tech. But, I completely agree with J-zizzle up thar: Tighten the elements!

Tighten again? Haha, whatever you say [lol] But I might add this is the last time I revisit the helix.

Oh alright. But it just needs to be fun, that's all! Fast paced, high g's, etc. Update asap!

Hopefully this floats your boat and tickles your fancy...because if not...too bad! I checked the g's on that. Positives went up to 3.9 (4.0 for a nanosecond), but I left a few laterals on it...

Now that's a helix. Nothing like a nice tight whirlpool like that to give your ride some edge.

It was nothing, really. True simplicity.

Well, I got alot of trackwork done (by alot, I mean more than I expected). Everything up to the first brake section is smoothed. I still have some question about them turns. They're giving me problems with pumping, so I need to figure that out before I close on the smoothing in that area.

Here you can see the helix lead-out and a bunny hop that holds perfect floater (vert- 0.0 g) for two full seconds. There's something to look forward to...

Take that back[:D]. Floater rules. But its got to be better than 0g's. The ride looks interesting, the bobsled is definitely underused and unappreciated. Glad to see your giving it some attention.

Oh psh, you just witnessed the shrinking of helices to beat all shrinking of helices and you think there's no negative g's!?

The deal is I'm going to make a second chainlift back near a lake and that one will be more about twists other than the airtime that we see in the first section. See these? :

Image

I'm working on getting a few of them hops into the first section before it ends. That way, you all have nice floater air, but Jakizle has some nice fierce ejection...

UPDATE: I got the hops finished. They turned out quite nicely, with sudden pops of air up to -1.0:

Make sure, if you can, that the transitions from the bottom of the hill to the top is as violent as possible. Meaning, almost Arrow like transitions with no leads. From the videos Ive seen, they have some insanely violent, but fun transitions from positive G's to negative G's.

EE, you have no idea at all. The transitions have to bring your neck back and forth without your control at all. However at the same time they have to be comfortable enough for riders to be able to enjoy the lovely air at the peak of the bunny hops. Real, no worries man, they're plenty violent [;)]

Here's a smaller update, but it's all the far I've progressed these pass two days:

http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/i29623

Image
Here we just see an end helix/swerve combo. It will be tunneled, like the endings we see on Drachenritt and Hei?????????e Fahrt. Yes, that means I'll be attempting to do some actual 3Ds.

Mucho Update:

Something to remember: If you'd like to view the better quality version of the pictures, refer to the Dev page. Thanks!

http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/i29640

I go extremely far from working last night and this morning. In the pictures you'll see I've begun the second heat. You'll also notice that this heat is much higher and much bigger than the first heat. It will lack in airtime, however we got that covered in the first heat. What this part doesn't lack in is positives (oh yeah) and twists 'n' turns. I'll keep you updated.
