I just wonder how it could create so much suction. I'm a lifeguard at my local pool and the drains in the deep end can't even create enough suction to suck up dirt, drain covers or not.

Yeah this has been in the news a lot in Minnesota, really a strange accident, and a truly life changing one for the little girl. (Thanks to whoever deleted GerstlCrazy's post)

I heard about stuff like this happening a long time ago on 20/20 or one of those kind of shows. I've always questioned how something like that could happen.

How does that work, most drains I've seen can barely suck up a potato bug...But disemboweling a girl? Wierd..

I can see the suction getting that bad. It should depend on the rate and amount of water that was being cut offf that was in the tube going away from the drain.

Anyways, ouch and wow. Ive seen a slightly similar thing happen to farm animals, but, not so disgusting.

Common in sheep. I saw it in person at my local fair and had a very "wtf" reaction. Luckily my fiance and her family are pretty much farmers and she explained the disease to me.

oh. i see how you meant "slightly simular".
you know,
that girl fought for her life at any cost and won... that's pretty cool. she could have just drowned, but she didn't. it's too bad that she's going to have to live the way she'll have to, but she fought for her life and won. that's how bitchen it is to be alive! it kicks everything else's ass.

drains, more drains = less suction for each drain. we have 4 drains in the well at our pool and you can't feel a thing going down there.
