I say PTR but really only contains 3 photo's, so sorry about that.
Anyway, me and my mate set out to catch these hard fighting, frustrating grey ghosts as apparently they are the hardest shore fish to catch off the coast of Cornwall. Ive seen many TV Shows of Mullet fishing as the sport is growing ever more popular.
We arrived at our destination, Barras Nose, a rock segment down the road from my house.

I know it seems very beautiful but there is a very small sewage pipe that feeds the ocean, and the mullet in this case on the west side of the rock.
We found a rock ledge that we have used before for congers when the tide is fully in and set up the gear. As we was doing this we were constantly feeding the swim with bread flakes, and sweetcorn which were to become our hookbait. At least 40 fish were feeding at the very shallow mark so we knew we was in for a good session.
Mullet are very shy fish, we used transparent flurocarb line and a braid trace as contact with the brute force of the fish is essential.
We used very small hooks also to make sure the Mullet wouldnt see any disruptions and swim off eating more crap from the sewer.

The rods we were using were extremly light, a stiff rod would simply snap the fish off as ive said before, they fight hard.
Before first cast my mate managed to catch me off guard for a very emotionless picture.

Hooking two pieces of sweetcorn, embedded in the bread flake onto the hook i cast right in the middle of the fish activity.
Trust me the mullet are such a tease, just swimming around the bait, touching it with their top lip, spitting it back out again.
But luckily one must have got a little to greedy and hit it hard.
And then all hell broke loose. The fish slammed down with a 2 foot bend in the rod, took 90 yards off my spool and fought for about 5 minutes before we netted it, which isnt bad for what turned out to be a 3 pound 2 ounce fish.

There she is anyway, we was opting for a me and fish trademark photo but the bastard kept on stabbing me with its sharp anal fin.
My new favorite species i think, even the small ones fight so hard, we had 8 fish that day, should have took more photos but rather have got the fish back without dying which im not really good at [lol].
Truely awesome fish.
Anyone got any more fishing photo's? Post them up.
Sorry for boring you, thanks for reading.
Sam.
