I have the free version, which brings me to my next question: I have a file I'd like changed from .3ds to .skp, can someone with the full version of SketchUp do it for me please? The guy that usually helps me out with that won't be around for the next 10 days or so, so I can't ask him. Don't get too excited though, it's just some pathways I'd like to work on :P

Thanks.

EDIT-nevermind, just realized I can import stuff with my version, just can't export to 3ds.

OK, I'm not in school or anything now so I was looking for something to do in the meantime...something that'll show me some progress to keep it interesting. So my request remains, but if nobody can help with that it's not a big deal because like SFMM homie said my mad skillz exporter will be back relatively soon.

Oh, and I think I'm just going to redo the model that I lost... I'll work off of pictures I had taken, hopefully it goes relatively quickly.

I won't be back until Wednesday (a week from today) so hopefully you can find someone Dan. I would do it for you from here, but I don't have any NL stuff on this comp.

I look forward soooo much to seeing the final product man!

Just an update...I'm still working on 3ds, I redid almost all of the model that I had lost, took much less time than the first attempt since I had the picture of what I had done to use as reference. Ragan kindly exported my sketched pathways to 3ds, and I've put most of the objects together in a big scene in SketchUp...pathways, station, that store, other stuff... It's coming together great, and you can check it out for yourself here:

EDIT- A little bit of detail and this onride photo booth should be done :)

Probably with a little practice. Sketchup isn't hard at all, once you learn the basic functions.

Real, if you look closely at this picture you can see that I've got her covered: http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/i29771

EElover2, I don't think I'll be making any more rides for the scene.

Thanks for the compliment drummerkid.

xxatvxx, yes you can! What Canadmos said.

EDIT- 2 new pictures showing the construction and final version of the transfer track slider. If you're interested you can get them here:

In the last day or two, I've also finished my trashcan, bench, and street lamp models. Maybe tomorrow I'll make my last building model, should be a quick and easy one.

Looks great from the limited screenshots. I'm sure this will be another top-notch ride from you.

I have a question about making 3ds stations, and this seems like a good topic to ask in. How do you get the station length and height perfect for importing into NL? This has been bothering me for quite some time now.

I measured the length in NL by simply converting station track to regular track and getting that length, and got the height from NL too, though a little bit of trial and error was necessary to get the trough for the track perfect. If you have the measurements from NL, you can start a line, type in the length you want, and press enter in SketchUp to get a line of that length. Hope that answers your question.

Or could always just built the station around a piece of 3ds track that is the same length of the station..

You can also just guess and check with Sketchup using the person...just guess the length according to how many trains there are (it doesn't have to be exact, as the NL station doesn't show up in sim anyways). Thats what I did with Disarray and it turned out great.

Mine had to be exact at the trough because I'm leaving the NL simple station in, and covering everything except for the gates. That way I can have a custom station with moving gates (and I don't have to make my own gates lol).

Jakizle helped me export my scene, and Canadmos finally got it to work perfectly, so the scene complete with paths, a few buildings, and the station is now in NL and it looks sweeeet

I'll probably flesh out some of the foliage today, and maybe add benches and lamps now or soon. Like always, I'm very excited!

I took a bunch of screenies, but almost every one of them gave too much away, since I have some cool features spread out within the ride's trackwork, and also the scenery and interaction. So you'll have to settle with this screenshot showing some of the scene in NL, as seen through the station window.

lol, scenery screen scene seen, say that one 3 times fast

Ah, man, that looks pretty sexy so far. May I ask how long it is? Lately a the majority of rockets are pretty short.

From my first post in this thread:

"Coaster Type: Intamin AG Linear Synchronous Motor Launched
Train Type: Intamin "Storm Runner style" Multi-Looping Trains with OTSR's

Top Speed: 76 MPH
Height: 179.04 feet
Max Drop: 164.08 feet
Max Drop Steepness: 80.8 degrees
Track Length: 3057.89 feet
Number of Inversions: 2"

The length is short enough to be realistic, longer in track length than Storm Runner and shorter than Kingda Ka, but long enough to still do more than just a couple elements and be done. I hate how a lot of rocket coasters are so unrealistic with 5000 foot layouts and 15 spots of airtime, as that's for the most part nowhere near realistic. I wanted mine to be a great ride, but something you could see actually being in a real park.

In other words, just the right length :)

haha thanks ragan, I sure hope so :)

EDIT- Just an update... haven't done all that much, some little things here and there though. I did one thing that's not a huge deal but I won't mention it because it could give away a cool little feature I added. Yesterday I laid down some supports to be exported and used as reference in SketchUp for fencing...but I don't have CK.

Can anyone with the full version of CK export some supports to 3ds for me real quick, like within the next 15-20 mins? I'd like to finish up fences tonight, but it's getting late so if nobody replies it's not a huge deal. Thanks

Wow, looks cool man, can't wait!

I also have a little question. The textures you aply in Sketchup, are they still there when you export the whole thing to .3ds, or do you add them in another program after you made the building in Sketchup.

Also, how did you fix the lighting problem, sketchup tends to make the shadow side totaly black.

Interesting Archetecture for the station. I find most designs to be boxy and boring. Good work.

The coaster itself also looks fairly interesting. Could be fun. I don't think i've downloaded a coaster for awhile that I've actually really enjoyed.
