The Best by far are B&M clamshells :)

but the worst by far are Premier Lapbars to which someone on CF described as to riding with an anvil on your lap which is true. Then they also have those horrid ankle restraints on them that cut off circulation to your feet. i'm guessing those qualify as Leg and Lap since they have the horrid piece of rubber on your lap and the huge ankle restraints.

If you want painful restraints, hop on over to Valleyfair and ride the Looping Starship. That thing has a huge lap bar that presses on you like no tomorrow, and small OTSRs that just release and clip your chest...all things considered, it's a fun ride, but the restraints overdo it.

we had a looping starship over at SFOG for quite some time, up until they removed it for Goliath. I find that if you just do what they tell you to do (put your hands in fists on your knees as the lap restraints shut) then they are perfectly fine.

i think that if i were to consider all restraints ive experienced, without consideration of the ride itself (many people are basing their responses off of rough trackwork, when really the restraints are fine) i would have to say the S&S lap restraints.

On skyhawk i have to slide forward in the seat so that i can have a little room, because you cant push them down yourself, and they are shaped perfectly so that the two points on the restraint that touch me are on my hipbones, which hurts like holy hell

Actually, Gwazi's restraints were uncomfortable in the fact that when you have long legs like my own, the lapbar indent on the outside cuts off room and makes the seating very uncomfortable...

I liked Gwazi's, they were pretty comfy. I don't know about worst, but best totally go to B&M clamshells, Intamin OSTRs and Intamin lapbars.

yeah intamin lapbars are very nice, but i like the contour ones better than the straight ones, i dont know how they determine which ones to use on what rides, but i know MF's are contour and TTB's are not, well not nearly as much

Which coaster has a b&m clampshell?
Trim breaks are your enemy, retracking/smoothing is your friend. I miss b&m floored sit downs. coaster count=39

B&M Hypers. The ones that look like huge disks.

I dunno what they are called, but the Eurofighter restraints are evil.

They have the same sholder digging stupidity of Vekoma SLC restraints (new ones).

I hate the way Vekoma try too hard to form a shape to mold every curve in the human body, why are there big things under the shodlers digging into you? Why?

Vekoma fail misribly at lif- i mean restraints.

But Eurofighters were even worse. Damn. A coaster with loads of airtime... has knifes in the top of the sholder?

I really don't like the lapbar and horsecollar combo on the Intamin Looping Starships... :/

I hate stand up coaster restraints like the mantis at cp. Your head is constantly banging up against the sides and the bar that u sit on gives u the worst wedgie ever.[shocked]

Vekoma SLC's suck the most. But I kinda like the otsr's on Sequoia adventure. Ofcourse, nothing beats B&M.

B&M hypers are the best by far. I found El Toro's seats to be comfy as well.

Worst for me is definitely the Looping Spaceship thing at SFGAdv. That thing kills.

Worst non-coaster is Jet Scream at CW. Looping Starship thing, and as it locks the lapbar pushes down hard on your legs, and the OTS part is totally limp. It hurts.

After riding roar im not too fond of the restraints on the millinum flyer. When they hit the button to close the restraints it whent in to my gut so every time we hit and airtime hill it just went further into my gut.

2 words my friend:

Top Spin

nothing like 2 giant piceces of rubber crushing your balls until they're practically not there.

oh Premier Lapbars suck too...they're too big and bulky.

I don't really hate any restraints I've come across on coasters, but horse collars are probably my least favorite, though the new ones on Corkscrew at VF are actually pretty nice. My favorite is easily the B&M clamshell, pretty much the most comfortable coasters ever.

Oh, com' on those are fine as long as you have the shoulder piece come down first, then as the other thing comes towards you it won't hurt. But I do think the molded pieces of plastic that are suppose to be seats suck.

The Ranger ride at Darien lake has the worse restraints ever.. a square piece of foam covered with rubber that pushes on your stomach
