well lets see where to start...i dont know how to use hsak, or purgatorium. Both programs appear to be essential to my nolimits knoledge. Any help with either of the two would be great.... oh and before you call me a noob and send me links to the tutorials,,,already read them...didn't help any.[;)]

I don't know how to use them either and I have been here since before Dinosaurs started roaming the Earth!

well thats true. i tried them, they just seem so complicated!!! Its hard to make a good corkscrew without them, and plus they can help with other elements too.

Yeah none of the tools are really necessary to be good at NL, and if you've already read the tutorials and are still confused then I'm not sure how we can help you unless you have more specific questions.

Start off doing simple turns and things like that, then graduate to harder elements. It's really very simple if you can understand what slopes, leadins/leadouts, and turning angles are. HSAK is about as easy as it gets if you get those concepts, and if you have an idea of what a heartline is then AHG will be easy too if you try to heartline a track while reading the readme.

Wing-Over made everything there is to know about the H:SAK here: http://www.coastercrazy.com/articles/arti ... 10&aid=150

Edit: can someone move this topic to the NL Section?

ya i know how to use the ahg, that didnt take me long to figure out. ,,and i read wing overs tutorial,,,(as said before) "i have read all the tutorials"...didnt help, and the only reason i really need to know how to use these tools is for corkscrews, i'm great at everything else just by hand.

when you are 16 and have your occupation as soap i assume it will be quiet difficult for you to even load the program.

I'd suggest doing one of the following; get experienced before you start that stuff. And two, get a different job. [:)]

Force Vector Design, they're eformulas based on calculating how much force there is on a specific section of track... and stuff like that, I don't really understand how to use it, but I'm sure it makes sense once you catch on.

Ok, so I downloaded Elementary (again) and H:SAK v1.1 from the NLDC toolbox. When it asked, I used elementary to open the K:SAK file. Nothing changed at all when it opened, just normal elementary. So yeah, I've got no idea at all how to use any of this, so how do I get the H:SAK file to work?

You have to save the H:SAK file to somewhere you'll remember where it is. Open Elementary, Advanced, Formula Input, Open, and find the H:SAK file.

I started using H:SAK for building about a month ago and I'm still trying to get myself to move onto making good hills. I think I'll need to learn FVDs and the Purgatorium before I do that though. The Purg is hard enough for me to understand, let alone FVDs. I got a long way to go.

TMV: I think, like guitarplayer said, if you can't understand and work with the tutorials, we'll need more specific questions. The H:SAK Corkscrew should get you started on basic inversions, but again, if you can't understand that, you need to be much more specific...

I don't know how to use them either. The easiest tools you should learn how to use first are the AHG and Elementary. Once you can make perfect elements in Elementary and AHG coasters, then work on your track layout, supports, theming with Object Creator, etc. Then if you still fel you need mathematically precise tracks, learn Purgatorium and hsak from some of the guides on here and other sites.

ya the object creator would be great to learn, but as for elementary and ahg, i know all that, its just the corkscrews that i cant get right...any other ways to make a really good corkscrew? even the elementary ones have pumping.

just mess with th editor then until you get it just right, then save the corkscrew for further tracks. Saves time and work.

Oh, wow! I had no idea H:SAK was so easy, it looked so freakin hard before! I'm just making simple stuff right now, but yeah. Cool [:D]

Ahh.. A place to unfold my story.

I download purg once every couple months. I open it, and see a whole bunch of scary things. I close the program quickly and delete it. Today, because of this thread, I downloaded it again. I stared at it for about an hour. Made sense of all the abbreviations and lard by trial and error. Now, I can do some basic things in it. The first accomplishment in it is I made a vertical heartline roll. I think I'm going to keep the purg for now. I still don't get H:SAK though!

Does anybody know how to increase the length of non- helix track in H:SAK? I'm trying to figure out how to make air hills.

What are you talking about, non helix track? To make an air hill you need to know how to use the purg.

Tools are not need to play NL, nor are they necessary, they merely give an added kick to players that like (and know how) to use them. Some people are anal, are require perfect -0.8 g force on a hill, math is only for the hardcore track makers. There are hardcore track makers that do not use tools, it is tough to tell who is more hardcore, but these guys really know what they are doing, so all I can tell you is work freely with NL, experience is the best way to learn, and you may or may not find tools to come in handy.

Is it possible to build two linked elements in H:SAK, or can you only build one at a time and then link them in the actual NL editor?
