Roar - Version 3
Coming Soon

While waiting for testers to be done testing XRC. I have gotten very bored. So, I picked up one of my favorite designs and have been improving it. I have fixed tons of supports/catwalks that I had not seen problems with before. When riding, most were completely not noticable. I also enhanced the main head chopper part of the ride. I'm still fixing up a bunch of supports. I am also working on a custom station/custom cartexture/semi-custom environment. The environment I am working on uses the sunset environment skyboxes. I would make my own skybox but I don't know how. One thing I am going to work on, is covering the whole lift hill rather than just the brakes. It would be a big help if some of you could ride version two and tell me some problems trackwise. I know all the problems with supports. Also, any other suggestions would be nice.

I'll leave you with some pics showing off the custom cartexture.

I have some more pictures. Again, any suggestions would be helpful.

So, I covered the lift.

I don't like the pullout on the chainlift...it looks to sharp considering the bottom radius of the drop. Makes it looks ugly in a way...

Ahh, but g-forces on it are nearly perfect.

It does look a bit odd/ugly but I think it's still good.

Some people would prefer the Technicality of a ride before the Adrenaline...there may be a way to make it look realistic while still having the hill's excitement. In fact, if the crest was bigger, the air would be much more exhilerating and boisterous.

You do have a point. To late to modify all/most of the hills now. I'll take it into consideration for my next woody.

Why dont you just use the Element Save system and sink the terrain?

Trenches and gullies. And no big mounds. Just little hills.
But I'd only do terrain if you do your own lateral bracing.

You're saying smooth, low flowing hills right? What about doing that and having over sized trees along the layout? Not just a little over sized, a lot. With the lighting it would create tons of shadows and other effects such as making the ride feel faster. That, or we could have no trees and keep it open. For lateral bracing.. I'm not to good at it, but are these alright?

Well you wouldn't have any shadows because you have terrain. Also, either you have to change the enviorment or actually choose a color that looks like wood because, the scene looks awful.

What if I only do the trees? The environment gives the wood that cool effect with the sun light hitting it diagonally. It really doesn't look like wood to you?
Image By the way, I joined the catwalks in this part of the ride. I was going for a darker scene. A lighter environment, such as sunny day, just doesn't look right. It's even worse with grass. Thats why I have dirt included in the environment file.

I think it would be better if you brightened the scene up a bit, like Jimmy said.

If you guys really think so.. I hid the sun/bumped up the light colors. Changed the wood colors a little bit. Added a very thin fog that is gray, and some darker clouds. So what do you think now?

[edit]

You guys never said. Is the lateral bracing for the turn ok?

[edit]

Alright, I went ahead and tried the giant trees with the low hilly land idea. It looks pretty cool in my opinion. The turnaround is so cool with the terrain like this because you can't see it till you get there, and the dirt kind of flows with it. Well, here's a picture from the top. What do you guys think now? Also, now that I look at the picture, do you think the rails are to dark?

Bracing ok? In my opinion it is.
Giant trees? Look the same as normal trees [:O]... Don't have an idea like "WOW! THESE ARE REALLY BIG!".
Turnaround cool? Don't know, post a picture [:D]
Rails to dark? Definitely!
Rails get rusty brown if you DON'T use them enough, and like light metal colored (gray that's closer to white than to black) if you DO use them enough...

Alright, so bracing is ok. I just made the trees even taller, between 28 and 32 meters tall. I lightened up the rails. I also optimized supports. Now there are about 1,000 less beams but the coaster looks exactly the same. It boosted my FPS an average of 12 more. I'm almost done with the coaster. I'm looking at about Friday for upload. Here's a few more pics. One more thing, I need a tester. I just want to make sure I get it all so there is no version 4.

I haven't updated this thread in awhile. Well, the coaster is done. ZOOZ3R had tested over and over on it. I fixed all the problems he found. This version is definitely my final. I'm looking at August 5th for uploading.
