The only reason they can't really add 10 Mph to the chain speed is because of the section between the two hills. That would be taken too fast. Furthermore, you'd get some serious ejector air on the lift hill, 5.2+ on bottom of hill, and you wouldnt get much air throughout the rest of the ride except on the pop by station and the big hill.

What i would love CP to do is build a B&M hyper, or, if they were to make another mega coaster like MF, build the damn thing for air not to be a signature coaster that is almost impossible to get an hour or less wait on.

----

speaking of CP, i am going the 6th and 7th (mon/tues) should i expect these ridiculous long waits? I've never been this late in the season, usually it is early June...and since '04.

Super long? No. Long? Yes, they will get long during peak parts of the day.

BTW i know why they couldnt adjust the lift speed, but I disagree that the speed would be too much. It would be maybe 4 to 4.5 G's sustained. Right now its more near just 3 because I dont have any problems being very coherant to the point where Im not stressed to move around. Unlike some others rides Ive been on.

I will be off on Monday. Want me to meet you later on? I have an interview at Best Buy around 1, would be able to meet around 4pm I believe.

lol I think I went on the 6-8th in August 2003. It was packed then despite being in the middle of the week, not sure if it's changed though since.

I've noticed on El Toro, the new maybe 10 mph slow down at the beginning of the lift-top turnaround has very little effect on anything beyond the first drop. I can't really tell the difference between rides now and before the change, so I assume 10 mph over 300 feet won't make as much of a difference as we'd all assume. I tried a slowdown from around 14 mph to 6 on my ET recreation, and the differences in negatives were around .1 or .2 max, hardly significant.

I agree that MF would be much better with hills featuring some stronger airtime. I think CP knew what they were doing when they worked with Intamin to come up with a design that would suit their park. MF is the type of ride that'll draw lots of people, but not turn some people away because of too much intensity. I think they definately made the right decision because it pulls people into their park, but at the same time (despite the fact that I really like MF) I personally, as a rider, would also prefer for it to be more intense in it's negatives, force changes, etc.

lol Real I feel like you're always more worried about my posts than what I actually say. So I picked out one point? Big deal...I disagreed with stuff IF said too. Who cares, it's just a discussion.

Speaking of SFA though, I'll be there today to enjoy SROS' long straight section and pretty good ejector on the subsequent hill. So on that note, sleep time :) Good night.

Thats it, I read exactly what you wrote.

Not sure how you and IF are on the same page on the drop issue

I think that obviously we disagreed there, but I dont think him just having one ride in each gives him enough data to work with. Might be splitting hairs here but its important since I spend a great deal of time ensuring when I quote someone its correct. Overall, for all the things he listed, we are on the same page.

Ok, fair enough, now I think I'm on the same page with you. All I mostly wanted was some clarification on your thoughts about the drop, as it wasn't quite clear to me.

Dcs, staple you on Nitro!? When I went, we asked for them to leave it pretty loose, and they left them so loose that they weren't nearly touching me at all the entire ride, except the first drop and when they got pushed in on the helix.

And random, but I'll be getting S:ROS's straight and ejector air in a week at SDFL..Awesome.

By staple I mostly meant push the lapbar all the way down, and that doesn't always happen. That makes more of a difference on Nitro than something like Maverick or SROS though.

BTW SROS SFA has been flying lately. I've heard it described as going really fast when the train ends up 1.5 cars past the last brake, and it was going 2.25 past today and another time I went this year. lol I grayed out slightly after the first low curve and pulling up to the first camelback, and also consistently for the last maybe 1/5 of the first helix. The ride is so much better when it's running fast, as I expect Maverick is much better than the CP onride.

Yeah, I know what you meant by staple, but they weren't doing it at all. Every ride I got on it the restrain was either barely or not touching me at all.

Hmm the CP onride of Maverick still looks great to me. It must be crazy if it goes faster.

I like that vid, shows how freakin fast this thing really is. Might wanna skip the first 40 seconds, that's when the footage actually starts. It looks insane! Seriously can't wait for this.

I never said anything about MF, why do people here constantly put words in my mouth? It is an enjoyable ride. It's not worth the wait, however. I would rather wait a maximum of 1 1/2 hours for Maverick (the wait rarely exceeds that, if at all) instead of queuing that long for an inferior ride such as MF.

Real, I found the turn after the launch to have surprisingly strong gs, but besides that, I didn't find the positives to be anything too strong. They seem very strong but I think that's because of the speed every element is taken at, including the ridiculously fast rotations. I also doubt they ever (besides possibly the turn) reach the strength of TTD's pull up.

It is indeed crazy. No matter what your expectations are beforehand, you'll definitely be shocked at how crazy the ride actually is once you ride it.

Oh I actually think they reach or exceed TTD's pullup. TTD's pullup is sustained and could mislead you just as easily as alot of G's applied quickly. I usually do a test keeping my arms up and feeling how hard it is to keep them exactly there. TTD I have less problem with than Maverick.

The most Ive felt was on BTR and Dueling Dragons Fire during the helix after the Immelman. Mav I think is right in there.

I feel like a lot of times g's seem more intense to me on inverts than on equally powerful spots on sitdown coasters... I assume it's because of the whole legs dangling thing? Maybe because my legs are farther from the center of the track than the average person, and my sneakers weigh a little more? Not sure about all that.

I think the smooth leadin to TTD's pullup makes it feel a little less intense than it actually is, but at the same time the fact that the forces are somewhat sustained may counteract that. Having ridden KK more recently, I can say that it has some very strong g's on it's pullup, probably some of the strongest Intamin has done, but considering the intensity of the majority of Maverick, I'd guess the forces on that turn are probably also up there with KK's forces.

At the end of the day, it's pretty hard to tell exactly how strong heavy forces like these are, given all the different variables like jerk, time sustained, ride smoothness, restraint, seat, and car type, etc. Add in the excitement of the ride and other factors, and you have a great question to which nobody really knows the answer without some kind of fact sheet or force graph.

Just adding to this, but....

Maverick is RIDICULOUS!

Seriously, this ride is insane! Every part of the ride is top notch. The first drop is crazy, especially in the backseat. By far the most intense airtime I've ever felt. The next two turns are very strong, and the transitions are crazy fast. They're also laced with airtime and are pretty much lateral free, which is very surprising when you ride. The air hill is great, good airtime, not as strong as the first drop in the back though. Next turn is good for getting you to the horseshoe roll, which is an awesome element. Love the 0gs at the top. Turn in the middle is pretty strong, but is probably one of the less heavy vertical G moments on the ride. Next turn gets you to the brakes. I thought the transition out would jerk, but it is very smooth into the brakes, which hit hard. The tunnel is neat, nothing special. The launch is awesome though, I thought it pulled harder than TTD's. The turn, the turn. The craziest moment ever. The transition is like WOAH!!! Seriously though, it is incredibly fast, and there aren't any laterals, the biggest wtf moment on the ride. The trims hit pretty hard, but the rest of the ride is still insane. The air on this hill is good, flojector. The transition into the turn pulls hard though, one of the next hitting moments. The former heartline roll is neat, some air to be had, would've been better as a roll though. The first stengel dive though, it's crazy. The speed that it happens at is really stunning. The next stengel is crazy too, but you do hit your head a little, and the final air hill is nice. Overall a wonderful experience, a winner in every sense of the word.

Only negative things I have to say about it are: it's a little hard on the neck at a few points, and they staple you HARD. I couldn't even move my legs the restraint was so tight.

There can not be enough good things said about this ride, it's close to perfect.

Oh they dont staple everyone hard ;)

I got around an inch on a couple rides talking to employees and makin em feel good and my friend whos alot smaller than me got - not an exageration - 2 inches. The op even looked at it, smiled and put his hands up like "you are the last ride of the night, enjoy it" Of course it came down some but he still had about an inch by the end.

Do a little glad handing and act responsible. Dont try to get 3 inches or theyll staple ya. But give yourself a little room and try the intamin trick of just keeping your legs up a little and flexing the muscles to keep the bar up.
