Hello boys and girls, Jimmy Yoshi, Canadmos, and myself have decided to have a friendly build-off with the use of FVD formulas. We decided to use a track type that isn't used much around here, the Eurofighter. The template was made by Drummerkid, with edits being done by Jimmy Yoshi. I'll go ahead and list some rules:

RULES

-The track type to be used is the Eurofighter, either from NL v. 1.55 or 1.6.

-Your ride is to be no taller than 120 feet.

-Track must stay within the limits of 5 positive g's and -1.3 negative g's, and +/- 1.4 lateral g's.

-Track must stay within the red boundries provided in the template.
(Supports may be constructed outside the boundries, however.)

-Ride must clear paths marked by blue lines by at least 10 feet to allow for guests to pass underneath.

-Station must be located in the bottom of the 3 sections of the template, and the track must enter each section during the ride.

-Terrain is allowed.

And I believe that is it.

Tracks must be posted by the first Sunday in September, September 2nd.

Were other rules that the station must be in the bottom section in the editor, and that terraforming is allowed?

Wow JY edited the template and it's almost completely different than what I made. I didn't know it was THAT bad...

I feel embarassed :( lol

No it isn't, at least I thought it wasn't. All I did was move the path a little to add some more room, and put that dog-leg on the left side where you didn't close of the nodes.

The 'NULL Length Bezier' is challenging enough -_-

Null length bezier usually occurs because your speed has run out, usually do to forgetting the "tFunk" line somewhere in the formula. Or from just trying something impossible.

I have about 2000 feet of track but there's just something I don't like...so I'm going to redo my ride :).

Man, you guys must be complete nerds to memorize those formulas. Personally I think using formulas ruin the fun of making rides.

Formulas can be wicked fun if you know how to use them becuase you can whip out some wicked elements in little to no time.

I'm not going to share any pics yet, but I will say that the first half of my ride contains a 97* drop, a high speed roll, an overbank, an insane banked air hill, a sustained light ejector hill, and a crazy loop.

I feel like all these FVD rides are looking similar because they have the same basic patern to the fomulas, alot of them have this same opposite bank hill thing followed by a turn, and alot of them have the long streched out roll. I dont know... I just think that you take what the formula pumps out, and work with it. You cant make it EXACTLY how your brain wants it. Doing a recreation for example, just wouldnt work with these.

Well maybe for YOU, lol. But the majority of the people I see using it are just tossing numbers in and having cool stuff come out, and just living with it.

Yep I agree, and I see that too in FVD designs. I'm guessing/hoping that people will progress to the point where they can make FVD do exactly what they want instead of having FVD control significant portions of their designs.

On Apache, the only thing that didn't turn out how I exactly wanted it was the Zero-G (sloped).. The rest of the layout represented exactly the idea in my head. I spend like 1 day on each transition and 6 days on the wingover, while putting some random numbers gave another cool element, but I wanted a wingover you see. The FVD's aren't decreasing the originality of your ride if you have enough patience and if you aren't happy to quick with what the FVD makes for you.

Anyway: good luck to both participants here, I'm looking forward to ride your coasters!

Garrett...you can do exactly what you want with FVD's. The only reason people do alot of rolls is because they're pretty easy (one large banking change) and alotta people like um...that's my only guess.

My Eurofighter does have fast roll, but alot of Eurofighters do include rolls in their designs and I wanted to make it pretty exciting. I'm not just tossing in numbers and seeing what comes out...I put in the numbers that will create the element that I want to be part of my coaster.
