I didn't exactly know were to place this so I chose off topic because it's not a theme park but a water park and I don't have much technical info on how water park rides work so it's just a random PTR.

So we went to go camping Friday 3rd August near the Sun City Resort and Casino at Manyane Pilaansberg resort. It was me, my sister Alfie, her Boyfriend JP and my brother JJ. Unfortunately it is still winter time here but we did decide to go to the Sun City Valley of the Waves Water Park.

Sun City owned by Sun International is built on the side of a extinct Volcano (Pilaansberg) and is a huge resort that includes the Gary Player Golf Course, a 6 Star Hotel, The first SA Casino and a Gigantic Water Park. It's about a 2 and a half hour drive from were I live so nothing too far fetched.

We drove at about 5 PM and reached the camping site at 7:30 PM, signed in and went of to find a nice place for our tents etc?????????

Here are the tents after a hard working session of blowing up the most ridicules mattresses in the world.
Image

After eating a nutritious meal of Braai vleis (cooking meat on a grill over charcoal) we decided to open up the drinks and relax with a bit of nice music in the background.
Me on the left, my brother JJ in the middle and JP to the right.
Image

Thanks to WWS.com I'm the only one that's still awake and took a picture of the dying fire for some reason.
Image

The next morning Saturday 4th August we had the camera batteries on charge but I just had to take a pic of this awkward bird. A Horn bull is what they seem to call it.
Image

We drove off at about 9 AM after eating and drinking some coffee. The entrance to Sun City includes a shuttle monorail that goes very slowly but you have to ride it in order to get to the resort. I know that there was some pictures taken by me of the entrance to Sun City but they seem to be deleted from the camera for some reason. So here we are inside the Casino area trying to make fools of our selves.
Image

After you leave the casino you head off to the Valley of the Waves following signs to get to the entrance. This is me chatting on the bridge with JP and some elephant statue themeing.
Image

Looking back towards the casino where we came from. This bridge uses a type of hydraulic system to simulate an earthquake powered just right to surprise unsuspecting visitors. There are also some smoke machines attached to the sides to really get some people going.
Image

Another picture of the bridge with the main entrance doors to the Valley of the Waves.
Image

The first thing that usually catches people?????????s eyes is the massive hotel but even damn rich people would reconsider staying there. To stay a single night in one of the normal suites costs about R70,000.00 that is more or less $10,000.00 for a single night!!!
Image

Walking towards the wave pool.
Image

JP and Alfie walking behind me. Ha, Jp?????????s looking at some coupons we got when entering. 1 drink, 1 meal, 1 ice-cream and half price on the Jet skies. (But that is in the golf course area, waaay back from were we came from)
Image

Getting to the wave pool.

Walking past the wave pool to get some food.

JP making jokes.
Image

Another pic of the ice cold wave pool.
Image

After we ate: Alfie and JP standing on some well thing. They had to be included in as many pictures as possible for some reason.
Image

After we ate we've gone to check out the slides but don't worry, even though the water was extremely cold we did ride them.

2 tube slides. (One is dark the entire way through wile the other is open.) This day I've learned how to stay on those damn tubes when reaching the bottom because I really didn't want to touch the water. After 1 failed attempt I've managed to perfect it.
Image

Another 2 normal super tube slides that we had to torture ourselves on. I believe that's Alfie in the liquid nitrogen there. The one in the pic is called the Tarantula and is not for claustrophobic people.
Image

Oh I love this one: The Temple of courage. A near vertical slide that gives the slider the sensation of leaving it entirely right as you go down.[:D]
Image

And another pic of the damn expensive hotel.
Image

After riding all the cold slides a couple of times we had to go look for the heated swimming near the hotel. I was there before a few times so I should know. But we took the long hike towards it.

Everything in the next couple of photos is fake except for the trees but there panted there in any case but it's done so brilliantly therefore I had to include it.

A nice waterfall.
Image

Little waterfalls.
Image
Little rapids.
Image

This is actually a pathway/hiking trail.
Image

A bridge with me and my brother trying to swing it.
Image

Another waterfall. I don't know why my sister has to take skew pictures.[dunno]
Image

A big waterfall.
Image

From the back of the big waterfall. Nobody there believed me that all these rivers and stuff was man made until this point where there is a pathway running behind the fall.
Image

But you don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that those are concrete rocks.
Image

Ok, like I said that I was here and I should know. We?????????ve walked for about 45 minutes towards the heated swimming pool only to find.
Image

^ A pool????????? which is even colder than the wave pool!!!

So we went back taking the short cut. This is one of the islands in the wave pool.
Image

Overall view. Yes we did swim but my method included: taking a tube and running like crazy in to the water followed by swimming until I reach the deep end. When I couldn't feel my legs anymore I decided to climb onto the tube and be waved out to the shore again. I did this 6 times!!!
Image
A pic of the big wave coming in.
Image

The waves here work in sessions where when an alarm goes off the big wave session begins. It is said that each big wave is more or less 1.8m high and the pool can generate 1 every 90 seconds. It works with a huge tank filling up at the deep side of the pool and when filled, the tank releases all the water out into the pool causing a rapid increase in water level. After 15 waves the system stops and the hydraulically generated smaller waves start.
Image

A nice beach pic.
Image

More trees when looking away from the beach.
Image

The last and a pretty picture of the wave pool wile the sun is setting. And well, a patio in the way.
Image

We started drinking again.

My brother is somewhere but he always leaves the crowd for some reason to do his own thing.

Us leaving because it's getting dark.
Image

And this is where the battery died?????????

We spend some time in the casino gambling but I don't like wasting money like that at all. We also spent some time in the games room to waste our 20 free tokens we got when entered.

The night wasn't anything other than the first night and I was the last one up again and the first one up the next morning.

The next morning Sunday 5th August we just woke up packed and drove home?????????

The End.

That's a sweet park and those are some nice pics. I want to see what's so cool inside that hotel that makes it so damn expensive.

Unfortunately we didn't buy tour passes for it this time but I've been in it before. It's most definitely the best hotel in the SA where million dollars worth of decoration is hanging over you?????????re head and against the walls. But it's still not worth it for me. I don't know what the big deal with it is anyway.

Funnily enough i enjoyed reading that.
Thanks dude.
You go to a British 'indoor' waterpark (yeah the weather is that crappy) you get heated pool's, (heated by urine only), shoots with 3 inch gaps and blood splashed up the side, its awful.
I live in the south mind, the weather down this end is awesome in the summer, 25 degrees c average. I have real waves, and yeah i surf alot.
Most people seem to think England is land locked and consists of London and nothing else.

And why didnt you ride the zip line? My mate went on Holiday there, and said they threw him off a mountain with nothing but a click and release and a pair of goggles??

Ahh crap, you had to bring that up? I really wanted to but there was a lack of time and money, we didn't even go on the jet skis even though we got half price off. The zip line is also way over the big ass mountain. Never been on it though, only saw pictures et?????????

You South Africans have some pretty extreme sports, if you call lobbing yourself of a cliff into 5ft deep water a sport like of course.
Shame dude, i bet admission just to freeze your gonads off in those pools where pushing the boat out abit anyway, maybe nextime eh bro?

Next time I'll definitely make a day on the zip line only. It looks quite fun.
