I lost my cellphone recently. Go me.

Anyways I was wondering what steps I would have to take to get a new one. First off:

*We have Verizon
*I am in a family plan
*I don't know if my parents bought "phone insurance" or not

I am assuming I would waltz into the phone store with the family plan information I'm part of (how to aquire this would be nice to know), buy a Verizon phone with Sir Debit of Card, and then have it "replace" the phone I lose on my family plan with the new phone. My question is, is this how that works or are there horribly complicated steps I need to be ready for?

Thanks

This happened to me before. They didn't replace it because it wasn't broken, just lost. I ended up having to buy a new one with my money, not my parents.

I've had this happen to me before (I also had Verizon at the time). First of all, call up Verizon and let them know to "deactivate" (or whatever) your phone, so it can't be used to make calls, receive calls, text message, etc. to prevent anyone finding your old phone and using it at your expense. Then, just choose a new phone and they will redirect your number to the new phone.

That's all there is to it. This happened to me over a year ago though, so I'm not sure if anything has changed.
