I need comments or suggestions sbout this....

I'm looking at dell's best laptop. Well its more like a portable desktop rather. U can use this link to look at all the specs:

But theres so much stuff to choose from and add. I just don't know excactly what to get. And I'm wondering if i save up to buy it or pay $174 each month for 31 months. I need help!!![:D]

If you want to spend good money on a laptop.
Dont get a Dell.
Well i would advise it.
Dell ARE discout computers, getting a top of the range Dell will be like getting a bottom of the range Sony or something.
I'de keep your eyes peeled.

idk. I mean I can try and save up to my built dell which is gonna cost like $5500.

really if your putting out that many bills, i'd check out some Alienware, especially if your into games and high performance.

ECG is very correct though.

ECG is right in a sence, but XPS's are good laptops, it's just that There are also cheap dells, but the XPS's are not cheap dells. Like other companies such as Alienware or Apple doesn't really have cheap discount laptops like Dell, HP, exc. But high end Dell's are very nice.

i'd rather have one of these in my lap for the price of a xps.

Noob question:

Isn't the "correct" ratio of a computer screen 4:3? That would mean that widescreen computer monitors would display images and just about everything else wider than intended. Is there even an advantage to widescreen monitors?

Your graphics card (if it is new enough) should support a widescreen resolution, so it will display properly.

I for one don't understand why you would put so much money into a laptop that won't perform nearly as good a desktop computer that is half the price.

And judging by your age in your profile, I doubt you would be able to get financed for monthly payments. Better start cramming all your extra change into the piggy bank.

4 Dell's in my house ... not a single problem with any of them. Of course, whenever I have had a glitch I know how to fix them and press on .... but yeah, I cannot say anything bad about dell. Oh yeah, did I mention that just this year I bought (on behalf of the government) 23 Dell PE servers, and 50 desktop machines complete with all the bells and whistles (minus Vista of course)? Have not had a problem yet ...

yeah dude, what if your dad loses his job. Sucks to think but it's real life. Loans are always deadly.

His dad losing his job doesn't really have anything to do with him not getting approved. The bigger factors would be that he is mostly likely getting paid under the table and so there is no proof that he even works. Then there is the fact at 13 years of age, I highly doubt he is paying any bills and creating a credit history.

He doesn't need a loan. If he works 55-56 days he can get the money. Or, like me, just dream you have the laptop that you want. The laptop I have right now is okay in my opinion. I have one of these:

That is true. I still wonder why he would waste all that money on a laptop instead of spending half that on an extremely decent desktop computer.

Eh, I personally prefer laptops over desktops. Simply because I am always moving/going places and don't want to carry an actual desktop computer if you know what I mean. Literally, when I am working on a new coaster I am in my bed, on the couch, eating something at the table (by myself), in the car, etc. I am more comfortable and can do more with it. If I just sit at a desk, with a desktop, I am limited to one chair and I get bored/butt hurt. Or I could make a line-up of chairs from all over the house every time I want to build. Well, gtg pick out my new cell phone!

or mabye saving it for a vehicle or college...

Yeah, I can see why laptops are nice if you are always on the move and want to still be connected. However, the laptop Cja is looking at is not anything I would want to be moving around anymore than my desktop computer.

Cja, seriously consider just building your own computer. Check out this one I built in just a few minutes, it totally tromps all over that laptop at less than half the cost!

Dont go into alienware. I had one, it broke, customer support was awful, i finnaly got another, it also broke, eventually i asked for my money back, it was all returned eventually about 2-3 months later, then i got a dell xps and it is great.
