When reading lat. g's in the simulator, which direction is associated with a positive(+) g?

The best way to find out is to try it out. Build an unbanked flat turn and check the forces when the train goes over it.

I think + was to the left, and - was to the right. But yeah, best thing is just trial and error. Build a simple turn, and check it the readings out sparky.

Dirk, do you mean that when the track bends to the left it gives a positive force?

Because that would be correct, but you've writen it like the force is acting to the left when it's +

The lateral force in the sim is shown thus:

A force acting to push you to the right is measured on the + scale (i.e. if the car goes to the left, the force pushes you to the right, + direction)

A force acting to push you to the left is measured on the - scale (i.e. if the car goes to the right, the force pushes you to the left, - direction)
