I've been practicing using Newton for a few weeks now and have made two complete tracks but didn't know if I need to run it through the AHG or not. I tried running it through and it really messed up my track so I'm wondering if I'm not supposed to or if I'm doing something really wrong.

Also, could somebody explain how the smoothing feature in Newton works and what is the best settings to use with it.

Thanks!

Newton heartlines your tracks for you, so AHG'ing the track would just over do it. Once you have the track complete in Newton, your set.

Well for AHG, have you already banked the track in Newton?

If you have, what I do is select opion that takes away all the heartlining, then I turn all the track segements black in the editor, and run it through AHG.

If not, you have to spend time getting all the right colors in all the right places so the banking comes out right. Then run it through AHG.

^ Is there any benefit to doing it that way or should I just stick to Newton's heartlining?

Also, can anyone explain what the best settings to use when saving an element are. I've never tried using the smoothing function because I don't know what the best settings to use are.

There are two options in Newton, to have a heartlined track or export without a heartline then run it through AHG. For the smoothing I use 100%, this helps make everything flow nicely.

I've heard that running it through ahg rather than using Newton's heartline creates better transitions. I don't know if that's true though.

If you can avoid using Newton for anything, chose that option. So yeah, I'd say self AHG.

There is nothing wrong with newton, why would he avoid using it?

There's nothing wrong with Newton when people that can use it properly use it.

Only thing is that almost never happens. Don't act like you don't know what I mean with all the junk Newton designs floating around. Yes, you made a good Newton ride which proves you capable, I know...
