Its hardcoded, it wont work.

Yeah, I just tried it. what's the point of those seemingly useless files then? Is it part of other stuff that's in the sim?

I tried loading the sim alone on the desktop and didn't get anythign from it but some random green stuff. Hmm...

Thats because it can't find the correct textures, so it replaces them with a color like Pink green or blue... Try running it on your desktop, but this time have a folder called data and put the .tex files in it, see what you get... It still shouldn't work right because of all the other missing files, but some of the textures should display... Ive already tryed opening the tex files, got nothing, I also tryed exporting stuff to them, still nothing... So yeah, altho a lot is hardcoded into it, most textures are not, same with sounds... (.wdt iirc) Also in that folder there is some mesh stuff, havent tryed opening those tho...

Here's what I get from running the track woodchip. ( http://www.coastercrazy.com/track_exchang ... p?tid=4259 )

I forgot to create a screenshots folder so it didn't come up the first time but here it is.

What else should I try?

well, the reason the env/station is screwed is theres no env folder... its kinda wierd that theres still trees and sky... Just experiment with it, add some of the .msh files, see what happens, remove some textures, yet keep the meshes... yea... If you have photoshop try opening the .tex's in it... For wooden sounds/textures, you will need to copy over the folder called 'woody', notice that there are common extensions in that, with the final letter replaced by an x, ie .jpx (jpg) and .wax(wav) .tgx (tga) etc... however, I couldnt get anything by replacing the final letter with what it could've been, but its easy to tell that at one point those were .jpg/wav/tga... i also think that msx=msh, but I don't know what program opens those... If we figured out how to edit any of these, we'd have a pretty good start at creating custom track types in NL, however, I know the track selector is hardcoded in the editor, along with some stuff about how the track is built (altho most rendering goes on in the simulator) but Im at a loss on how to view the editor's code, but then again, all I have to view it with is notepad[xx(]...
Another mysterious file type is .nlp and .nlpx, these may have the informatoin about what tracktypes exist and what sounds/textures/meshes get used to make them, The primary reason i think this is because theres a backup of them with every update, but nothing can be certain until the real code for these cn be viewed...

I cannot open any file actually, because of the hard coding. I believe the sky still shows because the textures are in the data folder.

Anyways, I can't do any tests right now, maybe later.

GRIM and the rest of you, unless you can absolutly hack the games code, ITS HARDCODED.

Yes, you could speculate at which files contain which stuff but thats as far as it goes.

Can we keep this thread open for what its meant for? This isnt about hacking into the code of NL. And if anyone did, I would hope they would keep it to themselves. I wouldnt condone hacking it for any reason.

I know this is kind of off-topic but I didn't feel it needed a new thread. I'm doing completely custom steel supports for a woodie and I'm trying to put in catwalks by hand. Only problem is that I can't find the "brown color-coded" connecting segment. Is this a auto-support only trait or can it be done by hand?

Catwalks cannot be placed by hand. If you want to do all your supports custom, you can uncheck handrails and "enable supports" and the wooden support generator will only place the catwalks, nothing else.

You put the woodgrain3 and the wood_walkway4 into their own folder and call it CCI - structure. Then you put it in the enviroments folder. You also just put the ENV file in the enviroments folder. Hope that helps.

That would also explain why your avatar isn't showing up.
