maybe because he didn't shut up long enough for his question to be answered? also, maybe because he didn't ask a question until after 30 seconds of rambling?

let me tell you a true story about abuse of power
in california we have "sobriety checkpoints"
i was in the navy. for the 6 years i was in, i NEVER even smoked pot, but in 1993 i went through a sobriety checkpoint comepletely sober. the highway patrol guy accused me of being under the influence of stimulants,(i have never used any speed drug) pointing out that i was thin , and had "big nostrills" and "acting nervous"
i was put in handcuffs, and read my rights while chanell 6 focused in on my face. the cocky ass redneck ex marine chuckled when he mentioned i was in the navy. hamming it up for the cameras.after we went to a room in the back i asked him about my car, because when my drug test came up negative i still couldn't sue for the impound fees he winked and said, i'll leave your car here in the parking lot if you can come back to get it tomorrow i got out the next day and was brought to my command by shore patrol, the master at arms said that he had seen me on tv and that he knew i was sober and that the chp was doing it for the camera. he pissed me and let me go get my car.my car was waiting for me in the parking lot where the sobriety checkpoint was. 10 days later on my court date i got a little peice of paper saying there was no case against me.
two redneck chp officers wanted to look good on the news and arrested me because i'm skinny and nervous .. THATS abuse of power.

^^The point is: None of that is a crime. There was not a single reason for the police to even touch him.

^^ since he hasn't been charged with a crime.... yet, i would agree with you. consider this though... what is considered a crime here though versus where you are from is two different things.

It all comes down to the opinion of the police which we know their input. Then again who actually is charging him? I never thought the cops themselves can charge him? I may be wrong though.

Not shutting up is no reason to arrest someone unless they are saying something that is worthy of it.

I guess it all depends on how you want to view the video. A lot of people seem to view it as the guy was arrested for asking a question. I personally don't see it that way. I see it as the guy was arrested for being combative with the police when they tried to remove him from the microphone... and he was removed from the microphone because he went overtime and used questionable language. He probably wouldn't have been arrested if he hadn't acted the way he did, and his question probably would've been answered too.

I keep yelling, Zap him again!!! But then I realize its just a video.

Yet again you Americans "kicked more ass".
Im not saying our countries standard of authority is perfect but there was no reason for the police to even take him into custordy.
Blatently there was no answer to the students question from Kerry, so to save the big man some greif they give him the tazer.
Purely rediculous.
But amusing to say the least.
[lol].

Remember, Rodney King only led police on a little chase for fear of being arrested -- what violence did he commit against the police officers? None. Just more examples of where this nation is headed. [V]

Aye, Rodney...

Another great citizen of the States that is a pure role model for our children.

Bottom line, our Police Officers work the streets that most of us avoid and we do nothing but judge their actions. I hear all the time, If I was driving that fast I would get a ticket! But that same person complains when they call 911 and takes the officers 8 mins to respond.

Police have to put up with the society that we dont want to deal with on a daily basis, risk life and limb to protect us, not knowing each traffic stop or domestic call may be their last, and they do this for very litle money. So to the great people that wear the shields or stars on their chest, I commend you.

police abuse power all the time. I remember several times in my place of work when they would pull anyone standing outside the store and take of their shoes and throw them on the roof or into the street, pull their pants down, undies and all to have a full body search, yes, they spread the cheeks. I've seen plenty of abuse of power, but imo, what I've seen is well worth it [lol] Sure makes some people never come back. While others never learn. Best one was when they left the dude naked in the parking lot, he was a regular dope dealer and we had just closer, buddy and I were having a beer after work like usual when the cops storm in and grab the dealer off the phone and take him next to dumpster in the back of parking lot where we were. Stripped him down, searched him good, threw everything of his every which way and said "good evenin sirs" to us and left [lol] I was suprised I was bothered with that night. Though the evening that I was actually behaving I get pulled over and I am harrased over my loaded 9 mm [:(] Stupid cops [lol]
