What's with six flag's partnering with all these eople? Seems a little retarded, but hey it's a new coaster.

So many great new woodies, so little time (and money)...

I can't wait to get my hands on some renderings of this ride; sounds like another solid GCII!

I severely doubt it'll top Boss though. This is a bad move in my opinion.

That's what the two family coasters are for.

Update;

Good news! All of Evel Knievel is standing, except for about 20 bents purposely left out for access to the rest of the structure. Those bents are built and waiting for standing. In the meantime, we have crews working hard on tracking and the mechanical systems of the ride. As we begin to finish our repair jobs during this off-season, you'll see a lot happen very quickly on Evel Knievel.

There are some updated photos of how great the coaster is coming along on the Photos page.

Meanwhile, I've been working hard on our 3D Coaster Rendering program to make it easier for us to make 3D views and to make the rides significantly more realistic for promotions. Perhaps I'll be able to post some samples soon.

That's it for now. I'll post additional progress as it comes.

They aren't trying to top the Boss with Evel Knievel, its just another addition to our park is all.
they were trying to make a more family coaster with EK which is what we are getting. this coaster although not an exact one is a clone of Thunderbird in Powerpark and by looking at the video of that one on youtube, EK is going to be a smooth coaster that packs a good punch.

This coaster should be as smooth as Ozark Wildcat in Celebration City in Branson Mo. and I for one am looking forward to getting yet another coaster in our park!

That picture with the deadman corner looks exactly like a ride I had going. Even where it banks and the locations of the elevation changes are spot on. Thats creepy.

BTW I havent been on boss but doesnt Boss run those horrible G Trains? If so by default itll be better than Boss. Boss may have an awesome layout but it CAN be killed by trains. For fun factor, unless a CCI was taken VERY good care of they destroy themselves. At least this will require half the maintenance and be a heck of alot of fun for many many years.

I can't agree with you. This will probably be significantly intense...

EK is going to be a smooth coaster

Wrong again. GCIs have the most vivid and abrupt transitions to hills and such.
1-Millennium Force | 2-Intimidator 305 | 3-Fury 325
4-Skyrush | 5-Iron Rattler | 6-X2 | 7-Kingda Ka

Actually, GCI coasters are more of a family type roller coaster. The team tries to make rides that are pleasing to enthusiasts but also suitable for families.

I dont see how vivid and abrupt transitions translates into a non-smooth ride. ? Every GCI Ive been on has been glassy smooth. Sure the transitions are quick but they are crafted with amazing quality and the trains work those transitions marvelously. Youve either never ridden one or the one you rode is rapidly going out of shape. Ive felt 5+ year old GCI's with NO trackwork done to them rode smoother than 2 year old woodie from any other manufacturer (cept the Inti-wood).

Renegade was rough in its first year. Gwazi is old, but both ran pretty ragged. I didn't say rough transitions were a bad thing. Of course they're crafted well, but it's not just trackwork when I talk about 'smooth'...

Renegade was rough? I find that very hard to believe. Considering my source said it was smooth as glass near the beginning and end of the season.

But if they arent smooth, what is? They dwarf any other true hand crafted wooden design and by default that makes it smooth.

And the point of that post was?

This should probably be an awesome ride. I rode Thunderbird last summer, and it was awesome. Don't see the reason for doing those changes, as they took out my favorite element of the ride, but it's still going to be great. Hopefully Six Flags puts as much work into the station as Power Park did. They had this beautiful station, that was really built into the structure and was surrounded by the coaster at all sides.

If GCi woodies isn't smooth, I don't know what is. Yes they got some wild transitions, but they are all taken smoothly. (At least that is true for the newer ones with Millennium flyers. Some of the older ones has gotten a bit rough I've heard)

Coaster count: 153
Moving to Singapore in july!
