Considering that the NL Dev center is gone, maybe sometime in the future CoasterCrazy could implement something similar to the Scrap Yard they had over there. For those who don't know what that was, it was a simple upload area specifically for un-finished NoLimits creations. The uploader of a track to this scrap yard was surrendering the track to who ever wanted it. People can download just for the fun of riding something, they can finish the project if they like it, or do just about anything else to it. I use to download un-finished tracks from there all the time. Some were very interesting, but I never finished a design that someone else started. However, some designs were very inspiring and had cool concepts behind them.

Anyways, I think it would be a great thing and would help expand the site. Just an idea, any thoughts?

I think that would be a bad idea for the future of the site because that would add a lot more junk onto the server, especially since it is unfinished projects that may sit there for eternity and never be touched. I know NL files are small, but still over time that could build and build which would just take up space. Its bad enough that we already have 13871 tracks uploaded to this site and after they're off the home page no one touches them unless they are extremely good and are at a 9.0 rating.

By the way, I found 13871 by multiplying 25 (rides per page) by one less number of total pages (554) and added the ones on the last page.

Well I just said something similar to it. It doesn't have to be identical. Maybe tracks uploaded in that area will be automatically deleted after 3 weeks of no activity or something of the sort.. Believe me, I know their are a few people out there that have a few really awesome coasters that they never intend to finish. An example would be a Intamin Giga with glass smooth trackwork, however the designer doesn't have the motivation to support the beast. At least they can distribute it to let others enjoy, or complete.

I think it's a good idea.

I don't even think we should allow that because most people will look at the topic and say "why would I want to finish it? why can't you finish your own project?"

Another thing is that most people on this site are experimenting or doing their own projects anyways.

Why not upload it to the exchange, just add a new sub category. You know, so there would be realistic, fantasy, recreation, and scrapped/unfinished/whatever you want to call it.
