I've waited a bit longer than two months (since I heard about it), and bought it last night - midnight. Did anyone else buy it/like it/not like it? That question is directed to only those who actually like the type of music. Please don't post 'Avenged Sucks!', keep that kind of opinion to yourself. If they truly sucked you would not have even bothered to open this thread. Some cool artwork came with the download.

Yea really I dont know why you'd like them. That just means your a person who buys off of whats in the top 100 for music. Avenged has very little originality, just the same harcore song formula.

Try out some bands nobody has heard of. They are the best.

well, i know i'm not supposed to say they "suck" so i guess i'll put it in more simple terms, they are good instrumentally, although not very versatile, and as for there singer, he is one of the most annoying little emo singers i have ever herd to be honest, and there bassist is absolutly terrible... i mean,,,terrible...ughhhh i give the band alot of respect for having great instrumental talent (except for the bassist) but i just never fell in love with there sound.

ah, actually i opened this post because it's like a train wreck to watch people try to defend this kind of crap.
it has all the originality of a 17 year old doing donuts in a cul de sac.
the art looks like something someone did in school in a lame attempt to freak out their parents. or like the tattoos illerterate white men get in prison (i know .. thats the point)

aha, I had to laugh out loud. I knew I was going to get it! True the singer isn't the greatest but like said, instrumentally. For the record, I have been a fan since Waking The Fallen. No, I'm not someone who just buys off of the 'top 100'. I am actually apart of the street team for a band called American Murder, they've been having loads of trouble getting started. http://www.myspace.com/americanmurdermusic - I believe I am on there top friends.

Blah Blah Blah, opinions opinions, assumptions assumptions, taking a cookie taking a cookie. That about sums it up.

this cd sucked. i got it about two weeks ago. CoE is much better. that really was their only good CD in my opinion, wide range of good music (from beast and the harlot to MIA). they need to stray back to that stuff.

I learn this more and more each day. Like, have any of you heard of The Rocket Summer or Secondhand Serenade? Both utterly amazing bands in my eyes.

However, I never deny some good White Stripes or Mickey Avalon!

Furthermore, I guess you guys haven't heard a single interview recently. They changed there style because they couldn't handle it anymore physically. They didn't pace themselves a few years back, concerts 5-7 times a week! Along with that, some people say they sold out. So not true, this album was self produced, made exactly the way they wanted it heard.

^ ^you do have a point..people are entitled to their own opinion, but i think the point others have tried to make is that a sincere interest in this sort of music shows that you don't have a very wide horizon opened up to you.. perhaps you will develop the ability to recognize the difference between stuff that was made by, for and of the mainstream, and truly original (and good ) music. i'm not so much of an elitist snob to not recognize that it makes an attempt to suggest roots in original punk rock.. but it fails miserably in doing so..

my point is that with the exception of the way it sounds it is absolutely NO different than britteney spears pop crap

Eh, Brittany sound like sh*t in concert and there are no real instruments (you know what I mean). I think your main point is you don't thing they have any real talent? Trust me, I have tried to expand on types of music. Nothing at all seams to catch me. I honestly didn't like any music till 8th grade, two years ago. System Of A Down was the first band to actually interest me. According to iTunes, my section is Rock/Hard Rock/Alternative Punk/Emocore/Metal/Punk Rock Spread through a list of 481 songs. I used to have over 900 songs but my hard drive needed some room so I deleted the music I didn't listen to so much. I hardly pay attention to the words, most focus for me is the drums because I have a set of my own and I usually try to play along.

no, really..i believe that ALL of them can operate thier instruments in such a manner very well.. but the output is very generic, almost to the point of sounding as bad as christian rock, and if you are as serious about music as you say i imagine that in a few years you will understand..

music is music, no matter what you think. Britney Spears is music because someone sat down with a drum pad or a keyboard/workstation and layed out the song. a Mainstream artist is usually my first intrest, and that's led to my 600 different bands you find on my itunes, and you'll find local bands that are talented are just as good as mainstream artist. Top 100 artist are just the bands that caught the lucky break. They aren't any talented then anyone else, they just got lucky. They also have to have an attraction, since music has become more of a buisness then talent. It's not how it should be, but we can't change it. The fact that Vengance and whatever the other guitarist is has millions of screaming fans and their own guitar line is from them catching the lucky break, not their talent. If i practiced hard enough i could play any avenge sevenfold song, and so could a million other people. It's just catching the lucky break and having the appearence.

Once you get mainstream it just becomes more focused on the vocals, especally in rock. So much is put on vocals, that you can put 5th chords (power) and mabye a little catch riff with 8th notes and you may have the top selling song on the face of the earth.

This is why i love metal/metalcore music. Stuff like that takes talent. Watching a band like my favorite and hometown boys August Burns Red. August Burns Red's drummer Matt Greiner is probibally one of the best in the world. also others like Between the Buried and Me and See You Next Tuesday, you just drop you're jaw seeing what they play. I dont like SYNT, and i think there songs are annoying, but watching them live i just drop my jaw at the skill they have. Other bands in the pop-punk category, you'll find artist that write songs that could easily be mainstream and whatnot, but they just dont get to it

www.myspace.com/thememory Fine Example, there straight-up radio music, but just on a local record company cause they didn't get signed to a big label.

anyway im done ranting. peace.

Thats the kind of utter crap Im talking about dude. lol. Those bands are so whiney and redundant. They need to hit puberty, become straight, then make music.

Also they are far from unheard of. About 90% of the people at my high school knows who they are and/or listens to them.

I have to give them credit for writing catchy songs (If they do write their own stuff) but Avenged Sevenfold is definitely not my type of music. On the other hand, I try to stay away from labeling music "bad" just because it's popular, it just happens to be that way 99% of the time because the average person doesn't care about musicianship or songwriting skill, as long as a song is catchy and they can sing along and/or dance to it. Finding bands that no one has heard of can be a really fun way to find music, but just because a band is unknown does not make them good by default, you have to remember that.

It seems to me the "band that actually sounds somewhat decent live" died in the 90's at the very very latest. Probably started in the late 80s.
