My Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG and my EF 50mm f/1.8 II are compatible with full frame sensors. But my EF-S 18-55mm is APS-C sensor compatible only so I would have to buy a transtandard lens anyway if I want to take advantage of the full frame sensor.

See the 5D is appealing for the full frame but its SLOW! 3FPS just doesnt cut it for my needs.

It does do some nice things the 40D doesnt but I think I find the 40D outperforming everywhere else or it does exactly the same thing. Plus, the price difference - while you can find some deals - is actually quite large.

You guys definatly seem to have my cornered on actual knowledge but let me know if that site is as good as I think it is. I see the main differences but beyond that I actually see virtually the same thing.

Actually I read a complete review of the 40D and the frame rate depends a lot on the settings you use at the time. For example if you put the High ISO reduction On, the frame rate drops pretty fast.

But I think we have different needs, I want clean images with a good resolution. The 5D is well known for its ability to produce (almost) noise free images that are very detailed. And that's exactly what I want.

Apparently you want a fast dslr, for that matter, the 40D is sure an improvement compared to the 400D. But the successor of the 5D is to be announced at the beginning of 2008 (5D Mark II or 6D according to some rumors) and it will feature all the improvements of the 40D (Digic III processor (faster camera!), Live View, Self cleaning sensor ...) At this time we are not sure weather it is just a rumor or a real news. As for the price, with the release of the first Nikon's Full Frame (Nikon D3) it will incite Canon to lower their prices.

So maybe the future 5D will better respond to your needs and hopefully with a price low enough.

For the moment, the 40D better respond to your needs but you will obtain more noisy images with a lower resolution

And Dpreview is an excellent site that I read really often but If you really want to know what a camera is worth, the best thing to do is read users review. There is a really good site for EOS fans in french that is really usefull to determine which camera to buy. I guess there must be an equivalent in English. For the moment you can read the Dpreview forum, there is a lot of "40D VS 5D" topics [;)]

I use http://photo.net/ a lot for good reviews.

And if you're thinking about the Canon 40D, I recommend checking out the Canon Digital Rebel XTi, also.

Actually, cameras can be intregral to graphic art.

The XTI blows in comparison. Ive got an XT and the difference between the two is virtually nill. Plus the XTI has a crap chip in it. My original Digital Rebel actually eclipses both the newer XT and XTI.

But compared to my T the 40D will produce a better, more detailed image anyways. And while I agree - I love those super detailed, very noise free pictures I have to have the ability to shoot fast when I want too.

Cant get those sweet Amusement Park pictures without uber fast frames! And Ill never shoot High ISO - what a waste of time. I try to never shoot over 200 anyways.

If I find some graphic art Ill post it up.

Pictures can indeed be integral to art, you got many ways to express.

I mostly make signatures and stuff, and sometimes huge arts.

Got some more out my storage:

No, not from scratch.

Used a couple of pictures wich were mixed up together.
I added some photoshop effects later on to let it look like an painting.

Fine, I'll post something.

This is a pic I took yesterday, the light comes from my desktop lamp.

Exif data:
# Camera Make = Canon
# Camera Model = Canon EOS 400D DIGITAL
# Exposure Time (1 / Shutter Speed) = 1/250 second = 0.00400 second
# ISO Speed Ratings = 100
# Aperture = F1.80
# Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
# Focal Length = 50/1 mm = 50.00 mm

Here are some postprocessed images, I though of this as a photo for an advert, just for fun anyway.
