I am still fairly new to this stuff so some things I say may seem goofy.

The laptop I have had for nearly a year is a Lenovo 3000 C100. According to the 'system information';
-----------------------------
Microsoft Windows XP
Professional
Version 2002
Service Pack 2.

Intel(R) Pentium(R) M
processor 1.73 GHz
795 MHz, 504 MB of RAM
-----------------------------
Anyways it is a fairly average laptop right?

I've done some digging and it turns out there are two slots for RAM and only one is being used. The 504 MB of RAM is removable so I have decided to upgrade. Even more looking led me to this;
http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs ... 73A5CA7304
An upgrade specifically for my laptop coming in at $60.00! I haven't purchased it yet but I have the extra cash and am considering it.

Now I figure if I am going to have two gigs of RAM why not up the graphics card a bit.

What is currently installed on my system is not technically a card at all though;
Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family

The card I want to upgrade to is;
http://www.buy.com/prod/bfg-tech-geforc ... 80288.html

I am fairly sure it is compatible with my laptop but not positive. I don't know if I have a 'PCI' slot or something of the sort.

--------------------------------------------------

Opinions, Suggestions

Would you chose a different graphics card for my system (under $100.00)?

Do you like my choice of possibly upgrading to the maximum of RAM? From what I understand, the more RAM the better correct?

Please answer any/all the questions that were presented throughout this post.

you cant change the graphics card in your laptop, in a laptop most of the hardware is on the moderboard, the graphics card you have there is for desktop pc's, the memory could be compatble just make sure you have the correct slot...

Yep, for laptops the only thing you can really easily swap out and change is the memory.

You will definatly see an improvement in performance after upgrading to 2gb worth of memory.

If you aren't happy with the results after that, maybe consider selling the laptop and using that cash towards the purchase of a new one.

Do you mean the 8600M GT?

And as far as getting your moneys worth, for $1590 you could build a very decent gaming desktop computer for that much. Especially with the recent release of the Nvidia 8800GT.

Heck, for $1500 you could build a decent desktop and still get a nice 19" lcd monitor.

But oops, I should stop there.. [:D]

CPU? I'm guessing that means computer processing unit? If thats the case I think I cover that in the first post right? Anyways, You guys are probably right about not being able to change the graphics card. That especially if it is 'integrated' huh? Can the 2 gigs of RAM improve FPS in NoLimits or does it work differently?

Yes, it will improve your framerate. But I wouldn't expect a huge jump. Overall, you computer will run much better though.

i always say get as much ram as you can but make sure your laptop motherboard can take that amount.

i normally say 1gig of ram is suitable for most laptops but again laptops arn't for gamers so........ yeah, 1gig should be fine but if the laptop can take it 2gig would be great.

The things you can change in a laptop without costing alot are :-

ram
cd/dvd roms and writers
hard drives

as for your graphics, yes you cannot upgrade as such but what you can do is change the size of it in the bios

example if it is on 128mb you can change it to 256mb and the other options it shows but it will take some ram for it to display your graphics.

hope that helps ya a bit

I think you might be thinking about the 8800GTX, which still costs $550;

The 8800GT only came out 6 days ago.

Wow, I didn't know you could do that in the bios. I've only been into mine once, I shall try it next time I start up my laptop.
