Since we have so much controversy on this, why not start an actual debate thread. Does anyone know why people create NEW threads to fulfill their "1 post requirement" vice just following the darn link it says to follow when attempting to download, etc?

Yes, it is annoying Slap. Sorry bro, but when your active topics scan shows triple what anyone or anything else has posted and it is only in that one area and then people disappear ... well, it seems kinda sad.

Is there a possibility that users cannot make new topics, only reply to exiting ones?

Meh thats kind of a bummer though. Maybe someone really needs to ask a question about something or maybe wants to advertise a ride or something. I just think there should be 1 topic saying hi and get rid of the rest and dont allow any more to be created.

You should have a system where you could "buy" the rights for different parts of the forum. For example:

You get access to the off-topic discussions after 10 posts, acces to the hard hat area after 20 posts etc.

Guess that would work...

I don't understand what all is going on with this. Did I miss an informative post or topic or something?

Yeah, about 1200...
If you still want to read them, search for posts with the terms
"Hi", "Hey" or "Hai" in it... and maybe the ones with "Hello" too...

I don't think you understood my question. I was wondering if WeeWeeSlap had posted a topic or something explaining if there were new regulations. That was all.

Well, for someone who does the same thing on their site, I don't know why you complain. I sense jealously [blah] [;)]

woodie man, there isn't an official explanation.

Fact is, I've seen some people have come out and have started posting. Not all make their 1 post and leave so tconwell is wrong. What my intentions were are working and don't see why the big deal is. When the site is quiet, people complain there isn't going on. Where there is a bunch of hi topics going on, no one wishes to welcome the newbies. You never know, they might like their welcoming and browse the forums more.

Hi controversy.
Goodbye active topics.
Although i do believe there is a limit, if too much actions taken the topics will be as dead as, well. Astroworld.
Excuse the pun and all.

Look buttmunch -- there was no bluff to call, so relax before you pull a muscle or something cause the only "double" anything you are gonna do is double over in pain. There is however, a very simple fact that the spam threads to just get a (one, uno, singular) post on the site is getting old. Plain and simple pal -- and it is undisputable.

I think the one official greeting forum is ok, the rest need to be deleted because they are annoying.

a forum dedicated to them was created called introductions:
http://www.coastercrazy.com/forum/default.asp?CAT_ID=3

greeting thread or not they will continue to show up on the active topics page let it be the single greetings thread or the seperate topics either or will continue to show up in the active topics and makes moot the point of isolating them to a single topic in my opinion.

I just wanted to stand by what I said in an earlier thread.

Yeah, the forum is specifically designed for introductions. I think the point that CoAsTeRkRazY is trying to make is that ever since the anti-lurker ?????????must make one post rule????????? went into effect a LOT of threads that go nowhere have been created. I like and hate the anti-lurker policy, it does encourage participation, it does also encourage the creation of threads that are pretty much over after the following:

NewKoasterCid: HI!!!!1!
WeeWeeSlap: Welcome!
Casper: Welcome!
hyyyper: Welcome!

I don't mind it so much. It's just that if people aren?????????t going to make an introduction they should add to the already obscenely long thread titled ?????????Say Hi!????????? that is devoted entirely to just saying ?????????Hi????????? and then falling back into the shadows. New users are creating lots of useless threads that just clutter the front page. I don't know, I think a few of these topics should get locked if people aren?????????t introducing themselves in a topic they created in the forum specifically designed for introductions. It's a terrible habit people are getting in.

Eh, whatever, I'm not a moderator, that's just my $0.02

I repeated myself because I don't think many people read that post. It got lost in the plethora of "Hi" threads. I think that if people make a new topic in the introduction forum and aren't introducing themselves then the topic should get locked. Keep the 1 post policy exactly as it is, we just need to put an end to the pointless cluttering "Hi" topics. A small amount of enforcement should control this. It?????????ll make everyone happy, the policy can stay the same, and the number of go nowhere topics should go down.
