I was wondering whether to buy sirius satellite radio or xm, all the help you can give me would be great. I believe at the moment that im leaning towards sirus since they've got the yearly plan and XM only has a 2-year plan which i don't want... all your help is greatly appreciated.

Please also, don't tell me neither, because i only get 2 radio stations in my town!

Sirius cause then you get Howard Stern and the French and Canadian stations which are the only ones that play good music.

I have Sirius and I find that it has a lot of good stations for nearly every type of music and talk. The only thing I don't like about Sirius is that XM has a ton of Baseball stations while Sirius has just about none. But then again I could just flip on the AM stations where I live and get a ton of baseball talk anyway.

I have XM and I freakin' love it I am not exactly looking for so I can not tell you what XM has over Sirius. But I will vouch for XM any day.

How is buying an XM or Sirius going to prevent him from developing tastes in music?

I'd say XM, Austin. I got a Delphi system and it's really nice. Although I've never had a Sirius so I can't give you both sides of the story...
1-Millennium Force | 2-Intimidator 305 | 3-Fury 325
4-Skyrush | 5-Iron Rattler | 6-X2 | 7-Kingda Ka
8-Voyage | 9-Maverick | 10-Monster

I have Sirius, and have no complaints. Never tried XM, so I don't know if one is better than the other. Also, I think I've read somewhere that the two will be merging soon.

^Actually, they will be in 2010 they are awaiting the approval by the FCC or something and then they will be in the process in merging soon. (I heard this from a music director for BPM [A station on XM]).

Hmm when they merge they'll have a nice monopoly over satellite radio.

We have Sirius, and it's pretty nice, but from time to time on various channels there are still one or two commercials, and it's frustrating because that's one thing you're paying not to hear. I'm not sure how it compares to XM, but from what I've heard on XM, there aren't even any DJ's, which is really nice. For Sirius, depending on what channel you're on, the DJ can be pretty vulgar. But my final word is that Sirius is okay, I do not know much about XM, and either way you'll probably be satisfied.

The only thing I suggest is that, either one you choose, make sure you get a receiver with an audio out jack on it. If you have that and a cassette adapter (or just a regular audio cable for some newer car radios), the sound will be better. When you have to use the receiver's FM modulator function, often times you will get some interference with FM stations (especially in cities).
