Not sure if this has come up any time before, don't really want to search for it, and probably has.
Oh well.

I think there should be a forum post minimum before you are allowed to rate coasters.
I'm getting a bit annoyed seeing brand new members I've never even heard of rate coasters. Not only are the rates usually poor and unextensive, they're usually overrated. I know a counterpoint would be "Oh, rate it yourself to lower the score." Yeah, well that still doesn't solve the problem, their rate is still there. Even on my own (or somebody elses coaster if I were them) coasters I don't like to see it; it doesn't help me out at all.
What do you say?

Personally I think a lot of well known and established members still overrate a lot.

yeah, it doesnt matter now cause i put a coaster up like three months ago, but like two weeks ago, a noob gave me a 10 9.5 10 or something like that.
its cool that i have a 9.25 now, but its a noob rate, so its not real.

Maybe extend the character (or maybe word) limit to like 100-200 or something. There is no real way to really fix it.

^You could maybe fix it by, you know, having a forum post minimum before you are allowed to rate, glad nobody mention that idea before.

JimmyYoshi, They may be over rates but the comments might still be legitimate for helping and commenting on the ride.

Just puting one thing out there: You can have lots of posts and still act Noobish. Take me for example I have very little posts, but I dont go around the forums acting retarted. I've been on the site for more than a year and have been playing NoLimits for about 2 and a Half years.

But many noobs that rate coasters badly don't have the brainpower to post replys on a forum.

Characters is a terrible idea, for sure we'll see lots of..
"dat wus teh best loll!!1!hnfaunfuhfhuewhufewhufhuwefuhweuhhuwqhfighiwfh"

Posts will get people to start start posting really pointless stuff, and then we get more n00b rates anyways.

Maybe WWS could give n00b standings, like the emo ones [:)]

Well, maybe make people wait a certain time (maybe a week or so) until they could start rating (or posting, for that matter).

ORRRRR........

With the character thing, if WWS sees any person writing stuff like cg77 said maybe he could ban people from rating or posting.

You know, isolating n00bs ain't gonna help our traffic rankings. Everyone's been a n00b at one point or another, and I know that if I would have had to jump on the forums before participating in the track exchange, I would have been thoroughly annoyed. I say let em' keep rating, but delete the overrates using the complaint forum, like always.

correct me if im wrong, but i dont see how making people have a certain amount of posts before they can rate would help.
1. they could post like crazy in the forums to get the required # of posts
2. when they got the required amount, they STILL wont know how to rate properly because they've never done it before... [;)]

however, i do agree with changing the required length of a rating, but the way they should do it is have separate boxes for
1.tech
2.adr
3.orig
4.overall
and then make each box have 100 characters each. THAT would make ratings better [approve]

...like i said, correct me if you think i'm wrong, but IMO this is the way to fix the problem [:)]

ehh, but then you cant comment correctly. if i just wanna say one thing that can help out a person immensely, i cant anymore, and have to take the time to rate the whole ride, when i may not have time to do so.

Another idea would be, maybe some more rating mods? since we got woodieman it has been much better, but one person cant find every single rating that has a problem.

find something we don't post it in the complaints forum and we'll take care of it. that way everyone is a kind of mod in that way
