I've been reading up on this new software developement kit coming out in February for the iPod Touch. And I'm a little confused about some of it. I was wondering if anyone knows if this new developement will feature a flash player for the Touch/iPhone. With the new release of the 1.1.3 firmware I cannot decide whether or not to upgrade my iTunes & iPod Touch or just to keep firmware 1.1.2 until the new SDK is released. Everyone I know that has an iPod touch has jailbroken it (hacked for 3rd party applications), and I too have done it myself. What scares me is that with firmware 1.1.3 Apple made it virtually impossible to hack, so if you know anything that I don't please tell, because im definitely confused right now.

Well I went ahead and Updated my touch with the new firmware and apps. I actually really like the Notes and Maps features they added. But about the firmware.. I have an iPod Touch and when I updated it all of my third party apps and the installer were still there. I dont know about anyone else, it might have just not been deleted but I didnt lose mine.

lol @ iPhone. Must love the fact they're banned from Belgium and other countries for commercially tying it, after having laughed at Microsoft for the same mistake (with WMP). Hope yer all screwed with your iPhones now. Buy a normal phone.

Well, I heard that if you jailbreak it, and than restore it (ie: completely erase everything) you can still use the warranty...
Anyway, I'm going to buy an 8GB one soon!

Sour grapes. You're just bitter that you're in Belgium and can't have one. Trying to convince us that you wouldn't want one anyway isn't working.

im talking about the update with google maps, email, notes, stocks, and weather. apple is charging $20 for people who want these that already have an ipod touch. But if you buy a brand new ipod for the same price as everyone else did, you automatically get these updates. My point is, its ridiculous that people who already own an ipod have to pay extra for an update that comes free with new ipods.

I agree with you about the charging thing. It is quite annoying, but Apple has to make a profit for spending the time and money making the apps. So I kinda understand, why they charged us, but I dont like it. But at least it is $20, its a lot but at least they didnt charge us more. You got some nice stuff with the update.

It just pisses me off that i have to pay for an update because i've owned an ipod touch longer than some people who are going to get the update for free when they buy one.

Think of it this way: you've had the privilege of enjoying your iPod all this time, while those guys just buying one didn't get to until now. Was that extra time worth the $20?

OK, it's a lame excuse, but I'm just trying to make you feel better about getting screwed by Steve Jobs.

Yeah that is true... there are quite a few things I wish apple would have done with a few of their products. (More memory for the iPod Touch 20Gb maybe 30Gb) a never introduced the air..

Buy a phone from the Nokia N-series? They can do most of that for less money.. Unless you're such a applefanboy which rather wants to die instead of using a phone without an apple on it.
If the iphone is going to include all those options, be sure to spend 1000 dollars on it.

I just have to LOL at all the people, who claim the iPhone is the best phone on the market! Why would it be? It only features the touchscreen, but the other things sick bad, like the camera! It's just not worth the price! 1200 euros for an unlocked iPhone? Gimme a break! i mean, the iPod touch is good, but that's supposed to be an mp3/mp4 player! And yeah it is the best in the market, and really advanced for it's category, but phones are a lot more advanced these days! most of the Nokia N series feature wi-fi, even the middle class devices. IDK why iPhone should be a high class device! my nokia N95 8GB beats it in every aspect, except for the touchscreen...

There, I said it! Let the flaming begin...

Alright. There is a new jailbreak for the ipod touch for 1.1.3 updaters, but because of it being so complex, designers are waiting to release it to public because you have to modify software which can potentially void your warrenty if screwed up. I found a much easier way around it all, but I have yet to update my iPod touch/iTunes. I'm going to wait until the SDK comes out, before I update to iTunes 7.6 and firmware 1.1.3

Also: Does anyone know if the SDK will contain some sort of Flash Player for Safari?
