No launching friction wheels allowed, make your brake a downward slope. If the speed of your friction wheels is higher than the speed of the car when exiting the mcbr, it will be consider a launch and the track'll be DQ'd

Oh, then I have 3 questions:
- http://i32.tinypic.com/35bdw91.jpg Is this allowed? The brake (only transport) doesnt go down but uses friction wheels (8km/h)
- http://i28.tinypic.com/1z64apw.jpg And is this allowed? Both sections (brake and transport) have friction wheels (4km/h)
- Can the station use friction wheels (8 km/h)?

my trackwork is done
all G's spinners have FLAT mcbrs and transfer wheels
so does my coaster
you said you didnt want a launch but a realistic spinner has transfer wheels

this isnt a wooden coaster contest where mcbrs dont have wheels

^ Yeah, what he said. Hyyyper, with all due respect, you can't tell us to make the coaster realistic, and then bust out with "no transfer wheels" after at least two tracks have already been submitted.

Seriously, after you've got tracks sent in, the rules should stand AS IS. Since there was no mention of transfer wheels, only launches, it would be very poor form to count off or DQ those tracks that were already posted.

Yeah, that should have been made clear before we all started building because now I've been screwed over. Maurers use kicker wheels. And there is a super distinct difference between a launch and MCBR boosters...

I agree with minicoopertx. All Spinners have a flat MCBRs. How can you say no friction wheels if the real spinners are using them now?

^It's not necessarily true that they are completely flat, but they sure do not use slope for completing course after an E-Stop situation.

hyyyper generally has been fair in previous contests. I think that this (plus the need to have a decent number of valid tracks) will cause him to re-think his "no friction wheels" stance...

;-)

Spinners do have friction wheels on MCBRs, thus we should be allowed them.

If hyyyper, you are that bothered about the speed of them, give us a maximum speed to which we are allowed to set the wheels.

You guys are idiots. Design the ride right in the first place and this problem will be avoided.

Secondly, in the Timberland Twister pic, you can see that the MCBR is slant AND has wheels. So regardless, IT SHOULD BE SLANTED.

Look at the horiztonal beam bridge under the brakes. Either they built a crooked beam (stupid), or the brakes are slanted. Can see it on the Timberland Twister pic also.

And now for the Maurers.

Just because real rides have wheels doesn't mean that this conteszt needs to have them as well. Think of it as a electric efficient roller coaster. Less wheels is better. So the rules will NOT be changed simply because real rides have them. Real rides also lack wheels in MCBR's and stuff so build realisticly. RULES WILL NOT BE CHANGED.

Thank you CKMWM! For real kids, BASICALLY NO REAL RIDES HAVE WHEELS ON MCBRs!

Okay, I am aware that all spinners do not have flat MCBRs, but the fact still remains that hyyyper threw in the no friction wheels rule after a couple contestants already entered their rides for round 1. I think the rule should have been made clearly when the contest started. It is unfair to those who have already entered their rides, to have to go back and modify their final version because of a rule that came in halfway through the Round 1 Building progress.
Thats all I'm a little disappointed about.

ps) Are they still allowed in the station?

Rules:
(DQ when broken)

Minimum lenght is 400m / 1315 ft.

Track type: Spinning (either maurer or gerslauer)

Track and supports must be inside the outer red lines.

You may not create new or modify the skate objects. Color changes are allowed.

Must be single and full circuit, so no dueling/racings or shuttles.

Only 1 lift hill allowed, no launches.

Last rule there says 1 lift hll no launches, an estop with wheels to start the train again after estop is a launch from a stop and nothing else. Can't be any clearer than that.

As long as the friction tires do not accelerate the cars they are fine. If the speed of the tires is higher than the exit speed of the car when it exit the mcbr, it will be considered a launch and the track will be DQ'd.

You can have friction wheels to take the car from the final brakes to the station and from the station to the lift, as long it takes the train directly from one point to another.

So, when the friction wheels are used for accelerating the care in case of an e.stop, the track is DQed?
