I just want to let everyone know that I am alive and well and counting my blessings.

The reason is that I was in an accident this past Tuesday on my way to work. I was on I-94 going South in the center lane when the semi in front of me jack-knifed blocking all 3 lanes to avoid hitting two other cars that had just had a collision. I slammed on the brakes and stopped about a car length or two from hitting it but the semi behind me could not. The semi slammed into the back of my car pushing me into the jack-knifed semi and my car slide along it coming to a stop when the semi that rear-ended me slammed into the driver side of my car pinning me between the two.

Luckily I walked away with only a minor scratch on my finger from the shattered glass and strained neck muscles.

Here are some pictures of what was my Toyota Corolla.

Wow man. Thats crazy. What bad luck you were in it in the first place; wrong place wrong time, but you were balanced out with good luck by getting out safely.

Ya know I never put much faith in the auto companies crumple zones and safety cage stuff but I definitely am a believer now. This stuff really does work. Even the rescue squad asked me several times if I was OK, was I wearing my seat belt and if the air bag went off. I was wearing my seat belt but the air bags did not deploy. I did go to the hospital to get checked out just to play it safe and the x-rays were good, nothing broken just strained neck muscles.

So, now I am looking to buy a new car. I know I could get another Corolla but I was thinking maybe it is time for a change?????????any suggestions?

As far as safety goes. Your best bet is Subaru and Volvo. I am a die-hard Subaru lover and they are extremely safe. I was in an accident in one. I got broadsided by a blazer going about 50mph. It saved my life.

I say you should get a Lamborghini...that way next time this happens, you can drive under the semi trailers :P

But yeah, that's pretty amazing, glad you're alright. I'm sure the whole situation sucks, but hey...you're alive, and it won't suck for that much longer relative to the time you'll likely live.

Subaru may be right, but Volvo is not. I saw some crash-test videos and the Volvos were really bad.

@bockzilla, I'm very glad you made it out quite well, too!

Dayum, that's insane, you're pretty lucky to get out with a scratch. For a new car, get a Smart Car! You can never get hurt in a Smart Car..!

That's why you were able to walk away. Considering yourself uber lucky you didn't have a big pillow flying into your face at 100 mph. You would have had burns all over your arms and probably broken arms. Airbags are bad. Not that I have done it, or am suggesting it due to the fact that this is illegal [;)], but going to a crooky autoshop and asking them to take your new one out might not be a bad idea...

so.. what would you like to inform him of?
i'm pretty sure his statement was pretty accurate, what part of that did he get wrong? i 'm convinced that someone with your knowledge is aware of the fact that toyota runs half a dozen plants in the us and that's where most of the toyotas in this country come from, so, i musta missed something.. what needs to be informed?..

My moms friend had a volvo. She took it 60 mph over a 100 foot cliff with nothing but sharp rocks and solid land at the bottom. The car totaled but my moms friend walked out with out a scratch on her.

GET A SUBARU

I got in an accident on Nov. 24 2007, and my father was in the passenger seat when a car broad sided us at 45 mph. He made it out alive with only a scratch on his nose from glass breakage, and soreness in his body. Look at the pictures in this topic. I am happy to be alive, and happy you made it alive to!
