Hey everyone!
I'll post as many images as I can here, but I did want to say that "Shane" has been posting some amazing 'retro' reports over at TPR, so if you want to see more I'll post the link at the end of this.
But in an effort to not be so "spammy" here are several of the images of Magic Mountain's Colossus from opening year and the year after's "re-opening" (when it was closed for major changes after a woman was ejected from the ride)
Anyway, this gives a LOT of history about the ride....
This says it all. It was a great logo and a great ride at that time!
A very rare scene. Colossus racing with the original NAD trains. The red side was Thunder and the blue side was Lightning.
Some very "interesting" facts here...
In the upper right hand photo you can see the speed dip that gave major air time and many bruises to the thighs. When the ride was reprofiled this drop was lowered aprox. 20 feet.
The double-dip, which you can still see today underneath the re-built midcourse brake.
A page from Magic Mountain's "Coaster Alamanac"
Thanks to Shane for donating these images.
