Theme Contest

Hello all!

A couple of weeks ago, gouldy gave me the idea of starting a theme contest. For those who don't know, themes are little mods that make the site look different, and premium users and VIPs can use them. Now, in a few weeks I am going to be putting out a pack of new themes I have made, and I would like some help. It is all in making images... there is no coding required.

The Rules:
1. Themes can be about anything (as long as it is appropriate), not just coasters.
2. The themes don't have to say CoasterCrazy on them (though they can)
3. There can be up to 30 elements in a theme, depending on how complicated it is. These consist of:
- A main header and footer (770x125)
- One each of the following buttons: Home (58x30), Exchange (101x30), Forums (82x30), Meet-Ups (104x30), Articles (94x30), Videos (72x30), Albums (60x30), and Trivia (63x30). All of these buttons can have an up (normal) and an over (what you see when you mouse-over it) version.
- One each of the following headers: Latest Site News, Updates, Latest Coaster News, Trip Reports(350x22), Latest Track Uploads, Top Tracks This Week, Top Tracks Last Week, Top Tracks This Month, Top Tracks Last Month, Top Tracks This Year, Top Tracks Last Year, Top Tracks Of All Time (754x22).
- BAckground tileable texture. If the background is plain colored, just cut a 10 pix by 10 pix square and fill it with that color.
4. The images should be .gif format if possible.
5. I don't know if animated images are allowed... ask Oscar about that one.

Judges:
- Me (halo364)
- Oscar
- Someone Else (?)

Prizes:
First Place: Premium Membership, Inclusion of theme into the pack of themes, a little trophy image [:D].
Second Place: Inclusion of theme into the pack of themes, a little trophy image [:D], 3,000 points.
Third Place: Inclusion of theme into the pack of themes, a little trophy image [:D], 1,000 points.

Post is approved. I edited in one line below the graphic size descriptions.
Animated gif's may be used, but key is an optimized design. animated gifs are normally larger in file size and they can be very distracting. So use animation wisely.1. header must be in .jpg format
menu buttons in gif format.

Do all of the images have to be created by the entrant, such as the header and footer images only being limited to pictures that he or she has taken?

In. I would love to change the theme of the site, and wont give Oscar money, so, gotta do it this way. [:p]

You mean, do you have use your own images? No, I don't think so, but if they are, that is all the better.

Adrenaguy, you don't have to lay out anything. Just send all the elements (zipped, if possible), to me and Oscar. We will do the laying out for you, If all the elements are the right size.

BTW: I just think I should make something a bit more clear. When sending us the images, please send us all the different elements SEPARATELY. NOT as one single image. Again, if possible, please zip them up.

I might have a go at doing one myself, like I said before. I'm not necessarily entering this competition, cus I've got so much work going on atm that it's not even funny!

Actually... go on then, you might as well put my name down, just don't be surprised if you don't recieve anything... ever!

I'm at work, i've already completed half of the stuff, are we allowed more than one entry?

^^ I'd rather you just pick your best, but if you must submit more than one, i guess that's OK.

Condor Freak has submitted his entry. Just thought I should let you guys know what you are being judged on:

Originality (/25) - How original is your design? Have you used any new ideas? Be creative!

Visual [Design] (/50) - Yeah, well, your theme should look good.

Technical (/25) - Does your theme have all the components? Are the images good quality?

I'll say again that the themes don't need to have CC on them, but it is fine if they do.

yeah I got hurakan condor's entry as well. One thing I noticed right off the bat is the text is not centered on all of the bars. SO it could look funny when it gets put into place. Anyway, maybe that was the aim of the design

And, um, adrenaguy, what is the point of yours? Just wondring... it seems very random.

i don't know i just couldn't think of anythingand then i thought great ill do a theme on [CENSORED] (im not gonna let you guys know what i've done would i?)
and then i just did it, do you like it though?

The concept is funny, but a lot of the images are really low quality. that's gonna cost you.

Can we change the text a little bit i.e. pics instead of albums?

Been thinking about a cool theme for some time, so count me in. I guess we also have to include some color codes the text, forum background etc?

If you want to, then yes, that's fine.

- Yes, you can change the text, but not too much.
- I mean that you should provide an image that can be used as a background for the site. Unless you want it to look crappy, it should be seamless at the edges.
- Not knowing what exactly a copyright thing is, then sure, just make sure you have the copyright.

PS it was the point of the design, didn't want it to be too flat facxed did I?

how do you mean low quality? 'cus paint shop always f**ks up images when you make them smaller
