Hey everyone, just wanted to let you know about a rating guide I just finished that is up. Its pretty long, but entertaining at the same time so you can handle it. [;)]
Its not just for new members but also for the old ones who might have lost the interest in rating rides. So enjoy, and lets all start rating rides a little more often.

Any feedback on the rating guide is very appreciated! I spent a lot of time on it and want to know if it actually inspired some people to rate more or teach people a better technique for rating.

This is a very accurate guide!I hope many people can take it as an example to give their impressions.
I can see a serious lack of interest in doing this and a big difference from the past.
Oscar gave us the possibility to write a review without giving numbers,so,tell what you think!
Sometimes it is a little be frustrating working so hard on a ride and finding 9 or 10 ratings, even if they are all positive!!!!
C'mon there are more than 18.ooo members;I know that many of them are not "active" but many of them download coasters.
Well, personally,I don't rate many rides, but if I do that I use the 3 steps method.

Forthose who upload and want more ratings. I suggest you click the who downloaded or who rode it button and check the names of people who downloaded your ride and send them a nice private message asking them for a rating / comment. [:)]

Sounds right, except I'm still not a fan of the "realistic to what manufacturer would make" in the BT and O categories. If a manufacturer builds a coaster that is completely un-original in real life, I rate it down for being unoriginal. And if someone builds a bland coaster in NL, even if it is 100% what B&M would build IRL, that still doesn't make it original. I would rate down for un-originality in real life, so I see no reason why I shouldn't do it online either. That's just me, though. I like to see boundaries pushed, rather than "just another B&M hyper." I do agree that the g's still have to be comfortable for that type of coaster, but I think that if it's possible, you should do it, not just say "well, B&M wouldn't do this, so I shouldn't." If nobody ever decided to try new things, humans would still be running around naked, grunting at each-other. That's my 2 cents. I agree with everything else, though.

CJD, I know what your saying, trust me. My best ride is Greystone Radiator and that in no way is realistic to B&M, but its still believable. I was just trying to create a way for people to understand how to rate a ride on the Originality catergory if the ride wasnt particularly original, but was going for a realistic appeal. There has been numerous discussions of this odd problem, and I was just trying to give raters the option of being able to see that that last area for rating can be catergorized as originality or accuracy.

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. As long as I don't see people down-rating coasters because they're too original... lol.

Great guide! Now if we can just convince people to follow through, because I know that I tend to forget to come back to the site and rate after I download/ride a bunch of coasters. I always attempt to leave one good rate per week at a minimum; imagine if everyone else decided to do the same...

theres a two word term for unwarranted excessive ambiguous redundancy, and this is a testament to it..
i for one will rate rides no differently than i already do..

dude im just giving help for people who need it. Go on the homepage and look at the newest coaster and read all of its ratings (find the 2 one liners) and tell me again that this was "unwarranted excessive ambiguous redundancy". Just trying to help man...

Nah you just hate it because you build any other random thing and then slap either an Intamin or Gravity Group label on it regardless of shaping, G's, or any stylistic qualities. Doing this makes you feel original and better than everyone when the plain simple fact is that you can only build one style. Build something unique that actually fits the style of the manufacturer you claim to be representing for once and I'll lay off.

DCS wrote something along the lines of "making wooden coasters with Maverick like transitions" and then made a good point about the wrongly banked hills. He was totally right.

Hey everyone, there has been a lot of crap ratings lately, and they are coming from the same people over and over again. Please, if your ratings get deleted, or if you give out 10's often, please read this. The bad ratings are getting way annoying.

Thanks,
Captain Sexypants

yeah, there still have been a bunch of crapy, OMG this ride was great, fast, and fun. good job. 10, 10, 10 rates. i hate seeing those. i think anyone who gives a crapy triple ten rate, should be kicked off the site for a week. maybe thats the only way for those people to learn.

This is a great guide. People should look back on this every once in a while. And a whole bunch of new members need to look over this so they can give good, accurate rates.
