If you think your life depends on a single test, well then you already fail at life. It's a test, however much teachers try to get it in your head, it is nothing but a piece of paper with writing on and means nothing. If you screw it up...so what? It's not the end of the world
The ACT is over rated. It's rather unimportant piece of test. Why worry? I mean, if you are dumb, you are dumb and will be a failure at life. If you are smart, why worry? You will do fine because you are smart. Either way, people shouldn't worry about one test, They've had the past 15+ years before to help shape their future.
Ah that's just what they want you to believe, the teachers do want that the students take those tests seriously, so they exaggerate a little.
Not that you shouldn't take it seriously, just concentrate and you'll be fine, if you F this they're still looking at how you perform normally and it doesn't all depend on one test.
I was half-awake and scored perfect on the math section... You really don't need to study for standardized tests! Believe me, the goal of these things is to simply assess what you've learned on very, very basic things. When I missed points on the SAT/ACT, it was because the question asked was too simple i.e. I hadn't used that skill in years. Relax and have faith in your knowledge and abilities. If you're getting worked up over a simple test like this, then college may not be so nice when you've got 4 exams in two days or something like that.
If you're not happy with your score, take it again! And don't worry about having a perfect score or whatever. My girlfriend had a 1600 SAT and she admits that I'm better in most technical fields.
Just relax, study a little, and get plenty of sleep. Last thing you wanna be during a test is tired or hungry. And hey I haven't gotten to college and I have a job that pays well lol
A good GPA will bring up a bad ACT and vice versa. You have to be really really really dumb to have not gotten into at least a community college in today's world.
Don't worry! If your a complete failure you would have dropped out by now! I did poorly didn't retake it, but got into college and now I am taking 21 credit hours with a 3.5 GPA... Don't stress about it!
These tests (ACT and SAT) are ridiculous. It seems like high schools base their curriculum around these tests when there are more important things than that crap.
I had to take the SATs, which are the preferred test in this area, and needless to say I didn't do all that well. I didn't do all that well in high school actually, mostly because I was lazy though. So anyway, instead of going to a university straight off I went to a community college, then transferred to a university. I did markedly better in college than in high school. Why? Maybe because it was then that realized that I didn't want to end up as said Burger King burger flipper. Four years after high school, I'm now slated to graduate in May 'magna cum laude' with a bachelors in Media and Film.
Standardized tests? They can kiss it. However I don't condone blowing them off or anything OR being lazy like I was in highschool. I'll admit that if I could go back and do things over, I would. But even if you don't do well, all hope is not lost by any means.
As long as you put your name on the test, you can't fail, you get points right then and there. So if you can spell your own name right, you'll do fine.
The min. for most college requirements is between 16-21 (in Ohio). If you get below a 16 you can still go to college but on a probation program (at The University of Akron)
yeah, i havent really worried about it till now. now that its the night before, im kind craping myself. i dont have to high a gpa cause im lazy in school, so i hope i do good on this. so i need all the help i can get. but even if i do good on this, theres no way for me to get into college. i have no money for it. my sister tryed, and it didnt work out for her. she ran out of money. and she was a straight A student n school. i dont know what to do. :/
Tests mean nothing in real life as Edge pointed out. It's just a tool to see how well the country is performing in schools. Richard Branson didn't do well in GCSE's. Now look at him.
Colleges will accept you but you'll start at a lower level, but if you can prove you can do the subject they'll move you up into a higher class.
Another thing : Jobs require experience and enthusiasm, not how many A* 's you got.
Don't forget, you can take your GCSE's again when you're an adult if you're really worried about them. (Not sure you can do this in America ?)
pphht..
it's a multiple choice test.. you have to be a complete idiot to NOT pass it with flying colors.. really. i am always confused when i hear people had failed it..
yeah, i dont think ill fail it or bomb it completely, im just worried of getting a low to medium score.
i just thought of something though, you get $4,000 for college just for completing the act/mme. so thts a plus.
That's messed up lol, I got $4000 from my college over 4 years, and I was 9/250 in the class, played baseball 4 years, plus other stuff. My college must be stingy lol.
Definately a nice perk though, and I'm sure it helps kill some of the stress of the test.
yeah, depending on how you do depeneds on how you get the money. either over 4 years or at one time. i almost think i would be better to get over the 4 years so you dont spend it all a once. just a thought.
