So, fear the four threw out the wild idea of an app for coastercrazy. Since I know a couple app developers I was wondering if you would be interested in such an app.

What would you like in it, what would you be willing to pay for it and if you would be willing to prepay the app prior to even beginning work on it? [:)]

What would the app do? If you have an iPod touch/iPhone/iPad you can just use the web browser to use the site.

This site is a bitch to navigate on an ipod/iphone, so yeah I like the idea. Although a mobile version of the site would do just fine in my opinion.

I think a mobile version would be clumsy as all hell to navigate on an iPhone. All of those mobile sites are really ugly and stuff, so I say make an app, because those are so much easier to navigate and can be made so much cooler!
As far as capabilities go, I think it would be incredible if you could join with Ole of NL and whoever made SM and get together some sort of file viewer for those sims. I would definitely be willing to pay several dollars for such a capability. Other than that, obviously some slick way to navigate the forums, and the track exchange...some way to copy the URL of a forum so you can send it to someone via AIM or whatever (this is a feature that I wish ALL app versions of websites had)...chatroom of course, too.

I have had 8 iPods (two were touches) and an iPhone throughout the last few years. All the iPods have been stolen from me, and I sold the iPhone for $60 three weeks ago. Before anyone asks why I had it in the first place, I DID NOT BUY IT. I would not have given Apple that much money for a piece of junk. I had found it after helping close at my work two months ago (I work at a bar). Countless attempts to reach the owner were made, AT&T would not help me, Apple would not help me. When I had the iPhone I admit that this web site was somewhat difficult to navigate. In my opinion though an App would not do any better. I think it would be a waste of time / money. Even if the App ended up being worthwhile the device it is on will not be. Fag wanna be gangsters with guns can't resist stealing them.

android app ftw! Once android 2.2 comes out, it will supposedly be much easier to develop for all the different variations of android phones.

^ Now that is something that might be interesting. However I've yet to browse CC on any device running it. There is a chance that it isn't as awkward as the iPhone/iTouch.

All RCCAs should be RMC'd. And that event shall be henceforth known as the Rollercaust.

The site works fine on my HTC Desire, but I'd be willing to pay for a nice Android App.

Lets port NL over to the IPhone and release it as open source.

^thats kinda what i was thinking of, maybe a simulator app, which allows you to watch some of the rides you have in your tracks folder, but not use the editor, kinda just a viewer. simple...maybe i should suggest this to OLE

If you were to make an app, I'd highly suggest it be a free one for now. Until there is a NL app where you can download and view coasters in the simulator, I'll just bite the bullet and view CC via Safari.

It wouldn't be free. The last thing I could do is burn through more money on a website that's not generating any. A port app for NL would be good. I'll look into that. What price tag you guys would pay for that? Just an app to view your rides in the simulator in your phone?

Okay, so the price I'd suggest is $.99. I think that would be fair considering the caliber of app it would be. You'd be hard pressed to charge more unless you could offer the content and quality of a game like the Monopoly and GTA: Chinatown Wars apps.

price doesnt matter for me...ill buy it...as long as its not too outrageous. it would be a good investment, in my opinion, on the other hand, the only problem isee with it is storage, maybe one track at a time allowed to load? some tracks get to rediculous sizes and would eat up space. maybe one central database and the app allows you to view the tracks, or maybe load one track at a time on the ipod/iphone, but thats one of the main problems i see

depending on the quality of the sim viewer, I'd pay anywhere from .99 to 2.99, but unless there's a nice editor with it, no more than that. However, I'd pay upwards of 5-10 dollars for an app that can also edit/create NL tracks.

I'd pay up to 5 dollars for an app that is the nl simulator, but I can honestly say I'd pay $0 for an editor. With as many people complaining about how hard it is to navigate on this site, I can't see any reason to make an editor. It would be nearly impossible to create anything even marginally decent, especially by today's standards with newton 2 and such.

Also I don't find any difficulty using the site on my iPhone, but depending on the features I'd probably buy some sort of app from the site.

Alsp, about the simulator, I could see a problem where users use 3d files.

Yes but there are 3DS readers out there, probably some for the iPhone/iPod itself. If this actually goes through I would like to see the app for BlackBerry and Android as well. But one thing at a time.

I have a feeling that Ole is a little busy with NL2 to stop and make a "iNL."
