I've decided to buy a new laptop! Well, actually I've done that a quite long time ago, but now I've finally dedcide which one to buy!
It's an Acer Aspire 5520g!
Here are the stats:
Model: Aspire 5520G-502G25Mi (LX.ALT0X.018)
CPU: AMD Turion#8482; 64 2X TL-60, 2,0 GHz
VGA: NVIDIA#174; GeForce#8482; 8600M GS, up to 512 GDDR2 VRAM (up to 1 GB TurboCache#8482;)
RAM: 2 GB (2x 1 GB) DDR2 SODIMM (max: 4 GB)
HDD: 250 GB S-ATA, 5400 rpm
Screen: 15,4" WXGA Acer CrystalBrite#8482; TFT (1280x800)
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium

It has a card reader, infrared, TV out, a 0.3mpix camera, a 6 cell battery, it weights 2.75 kg, and measures 366 x 274 x 33,6/42,6 mm.

What do you guys think?

I would personally rather go with an Intel C2D. Although there is nothing wrong with the AMD processors. I am currently using a laptop with an AMD Athlon X2 in it.

What is the price? Everything else seems decent, depending on price of course.

It's 799 euros.
And yeah, I've been looking for a C2D processor laptop, but the ones I found had integrated or just plain bad graphic cards, or costed more that 1000 euros...

Wow, 800 Euro's? I would have thought it would be only 800-900 dollars. I'm guessing prices don't scale well computers.

They're still a little bit expensive....same as in Italy.
Maybe here you can find just very cheap mobiles[:)]

Everything is more expensive here...
For instance, the 8GB ipod touch costs 320 euros...

Yeah, i found another one that could also be the one.
Its a toshiba, and has almost the same stats and the same price as the acer. The only difference is the vga, its an ATI radeon hd2600 and it has BT.
So, which one?

Lol I would go with the Dell XPS series in any case. But if you really HAVE to choose between these two, go for the Acer. nVidia rules.

...That's VERY shabby.... that's not a good price at all! The graphics card rocks, but... what else is worth that price? A 13" Macbook with Integrated graphics but the rest of the specs the same [Well obviously Home Premium is Mac OS X] is only $1268... A 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo macbook with 4 gigs of RAM, 13" screen, 250GB hard drive and apple remote will only run you up 1800 dollars. Still has integrated graphics though.

Don't get me wrong, Alienwares are great computers, that just seems ridiculously priced. It's probably just me though.

I don't understand why anyone spends that much on a laptop with those features. Why not just buy a desktop? It would have better components (nVidia 7 series is pretty old sch00l now anyways). Not to mention that laptops are not meant for gaming.

I don't even want to know what the battery life is like.

Well I personally get Alienware for DJing because I have some processor sucking programs I need to run and large powerful machines are my friend. Plus, they look cool. And I know someone is going to tell me to go Apple. Well I do not need to support Jobs and his semen colored stuff.

i dont like apple. They are way too asociated with apple, and they are overpriced. There are not enough customization options for me, and i want a 17' notebook because i am a very mobile person but big on gaming. I go for power and mobility, price is not a hige concern for me.

I don't care if you don't like Apple, I meant you could get the same specs or better for cheaper, and it's funny that you call APPLE overpriced.

I didn't bring Apple up to start a Mac VS PC war. And Rollergod, you just completely took 'semen coloured stuff' from Ckmwm, not to mention nearly every apple product is aluminum now and not white.

I brought the Macbooks up because I know their price range and stuff well, so I knew the facts off the top of my head because I'm an Apple geek. I was just trying to help you realize that you were getting a bad deal.

I never told you to buy a Mac. I hate that people assume just because I'm an Apple fan that every time I bring up their products that it means I'm a mindless sheep and I just *HAD* to bring up Apple. I bring up Apple because I KNOW Apple. I got yelled at for posting a desktop background with the Mac OS X leopard logo in the desktop thread, but the other 12 people who posted their computers with imitation docks and alienware logos never got made fun of.

You people 'hate' Apple because I'm willing to bet you've never even used a Mac, either that, or you think you're cool because you don't buy products that are considered 'status symbols' by some stupid idiots who seem to think that Mac users think they're better because they bought a friggen computer.

God this drives me nuts.

Next time I just won't help you then.

Jcf, how can you have mobility, when your battery life is so short that you always need to be plugged in?

People don't want to relearn how to use their computer and don't want to have to everything in their life more expensive and more complicated by having to get some stupid program to make windows programs to work on their Apple and the like. It's an overcomplicated process most people don't want to deal with/don't have the patience to deal with. People don't want to be locked into using the iTunes store only for their computer and don't want everything to be Apple based. I like freedom instead of bending over for a corporation.

Some people also are prefectly content with what they have and will continue to buy similar things, get over it.

I hate them because they're a status symbol. They irritate me like popped collars, Abercrombie and Fitch, Hollistar, and purposely ripped and faded jeans do. All of the following are an overpriced waste of time and money. I get ripped and faded jeans the old fashioned way with a job. It must be humiliating to be a Bangladeshi kid whose job it is to sandblast a pair of jeans to purposely make them look like crap for 2 dollars a week.

People are irritated by you because you don't know a damn about computers and constantly run around screaming your mouth off about everything they do. In this thread for example you bitch about the numbers a macbook has compared to the PC one despite the fact that the PC with an equivalent processor will have a processor that OUT PERFORMS the Mac version with the same specs. In reality the numbers in general don't mean jack but I'm sure you already knew that since you're so educated.

In general, if someone is looking to buy a laptop and goes with a PC company they do not want an Apple computer and don't really care about what you have to say about them. If you want people to stop railing on you stop being so irritating and stop running around with retarded things like the "Mac: Future!" signatures.
"Careful man, there's a beverage here!"

gesh, this is all soo stupid! everytime we bring something at mac it's like the witch trails... we like macs cause they do what we want better than pc's, people who use pc's like them for what they do better. And installing boot camp for using vista couldn't have been easier, plus it only took me a day to learn how to use a mac, so don't go saying stuff like you know it if you haven't used a mac. And also a $2000 mac has a 2.4ghz dual core, not a 2.0ghz like the alienware.
...Gesh, computers in europe are expensive by comparison
