autism and aspergers syndrome

raise your hand if you have it or know someone who has it(raises hand).

i know someone with down syndrome, but not autism or asburgurs (however that is spelled) why did you make a topic on this?

because i have it and i just want people to know about it(it causes antisocial behavior and a list of other problems .eg. lack of sleep. just last night i just could not get to sleep, sleeping pills dont work instead they do the exact opposite etc. there are actualy some books on it.(freaks,geeks and asburgers syndrome is a good one)

I'm a behavioral therapist working strictly with kids with autism and related spectrum disorders. From what I understand, Asperger's Syndrome will be renamed high functioning autism when the next DSM is released.

my moms a doctor she said she was upset when she found out i had aspergers syndrome. i currently go to a school which is for autistic kids and other stuff like that.

I know a family in my neighborhood that has a set of triplets, and another younger child, who turned out to have a severe case of autism. Luckily, their family is wealthy enough to have someone be with the autistic son all the time, as a teacher and a guide. All three triplets are perfectly normal and they're family is very, very nice.

I also know a kid from my school with Asperger's Syndrome and he seems to always act weird. He always degrades himself, and I think its because he trys to fit in and make fun of himself before others can get to it. Many people have tried to be friends with him but he just doesn't accept their friendship. His family background as far as I know, his dad will not take part in his life, yet his mother works non-stop so he lives with his grandma. I feel really bad for the kid, but he doesn't let anybody in.

Those are some people I know with those 2 syndromes.

i have asburgers i don't really know much about it though

i know someone who has autism, he's called alex and he's a really nice kid, but i never knew that autism was so complicated, stuff like mood swings, really bad depression and just not being able to fit in. He even cried when we said that a new drama group was starting up and we weren't gonna be in the one he was in anymore, but he comes to our one now and he's happy. I feel so sorry for the kid and his parents.

I have aspergers, all my cousins have some for of autism or aspergers and we can trace it through our family history.

I have autism and asperger's syndrome and it is a hard thing to have becuse I am going to have it for the rest of my life. I have a job and I work a couple of days which is good for someone with autism and asperger's syndrome my girlfriend has autism and asperger's syndrome and she is relly nice even if she has the problem. I think that more things could be done for people with autism and asperger's syndrome and more things done for people with autism. I know that more people in this country have autism more than what used to be in this country before and more people are finding out that they have autism and asperger's syndrome you should be checked at age 3 or age 2 or younger to find out if you have autism and asperger's syndrome don't wait until the last minute to find out that you have this problem or disability something that I have learned at a meting that I want to on autism and asperger's syndrome last year in Baltimore Maryland last year. I hope that the members of this site don'nt make fun of people on this site that has autism or asperger's syndrome becuse it is not funny and it can hurt the members feelings that have autism and asperger's syndrome.

except in england this happens withought an illness usually in poor areas.

I think the reference that Gaz made was that it looked slightly like you weren't bothered about how you typed, which is indicative of chavish behaviour, however, considering you live in America, I somewhat doubt you live in a council house and I certainly would hope you don't take part in Happy Slapping, or just generally being a *****er to impress your friends by beating the crap out of some poor defenseless gay or something (Also, extremely chavish behaviour)

So yeah, I don't think your disorder makes you a chav, that is unless you do partake in the afore mentioned activities, in which case... Chav! [:P]

I have high functioning autism and love being able to enjoy any playground at 24 years old. I love the playgrounds with many slides and swing sets. I will try to buy a water splash box this Monday at home depot when i go out and about with this older guy that i love being with. We walk around strip malls and go to restaurants and playgrounds sometimes.

i volunteer at a teenager club for people with Aspergers and other disabilities. i used to be a member there, i don't have Aspergers but i am classed as disabled. my main condition is Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (ACC)- there are two halves of the brain, connected by a bridge of nerve fibres, called the Corpus Callosum. i was born without it, so it takes longer for messages and signals to get across, and takes me longer to learn/do things sometimes.
