I hear it's one of the worlds largest wooden coaster over in Ohio. My question if one of the trains get stuck in the big loop, will the train eventually fall down? I don't think theres nothing to support it from falling down unles it wont get stuck[lol] let me know though. I've never seen anything like it in thoes pictures.

Well, basicly, all the existing coasters have this kind of wheels.
Even if they get stucked or stall they CAN'T "fall down"!

Ah ok...I'm afraid that was the exact reason why they removed it...the strong stress on the structure in that point![:)]

Actually, the loop's structure was steel and therefore some of the most dependable on the ride. Sure, it pulled the most forces, but you didn't have to worry about snapping truss beams. The issue was the trains, which were pretty hefty and put too much stress on other parts of the track.

As for "would it fall down," I'm going to have to say no. I remember the track spine being pretty darn thick, and I really doubt those trains (even with their weight) could have caused the structure to fold.

Yes I think you were right. They did have some sort of a 3 wheel design. Son of Beast at Paramount's Kings Island in Ohio, has ... Upstop wheels, the smaller wheels on the underside of the rails that keep the trains from flying off the track and from falling down in the case if it were to get stuck in the loop. (although the loop is now gone)

Just the fact that it was a clothoid circle means it would be pretty strong reguardless. All the force would be transfered down both sides and into those hefty supports. But as said, the spine was freakin large anyways. I bet it could sit there all day and night without any stressing out.

I just took a look at this image and there would be no way of collapse.

And here's Tennessee Tornado with a larger loop and smaller supports.

Well, eventually, I guess. But believe it or not, the maintanence team's got the stuff to take care of it before 'eventually' passes.

I thought SOB was awesome! I went with my dad when it first opened. I guess since it was brand new, it wasn't as much as an aggressive ride. The loop was aweome!

Ragan, SOB is a great coaster IMO and should stay standing.
Oh, were you expecting something here?
