Okay recently I aquired Photoshop (not illegally -gasp-) and I decided before I uploaded my recent coaster to make the screenshot flashy by cropping out unwanted supports and adding an outer glow effect.

Within the next half hour alton_ had rated it. So heres the question, do Flashy photoshoped screenshots make you want to download and rate a coaster?

I'm guilty when ever there are bunch of uploaded coasters and 2 of them have photoshopped screenshots I always download those first.

Its not a flashy screenshot, its just a quality screenshot. When a person puts a lot of effort into making a ride, usually that carries over into the screenshot also. Some screenshots that are photoshopped to death look like crap to me, but then just boring screens suck also. Just a nice, clean screenshot that catches the interest is good. Its also always nice to give a good look at the ride, but dont give away the best part/entire ride.

So to answer your question, no, photoshopped does not always get the best interest in the ride, its a lot of factors, just keep it sexy.

Yes, they make me download them first just because they look more interesting.

i don't think it makes a ton of difference, but if i see a screen that catches my eye, i normally download the coaster, despite the rate. (the color of the coaster has a lot to do with it IMO. ( I'm like a moth, always attracted to bright color and light.)

The screenshot is a draw, but really it's the coaster that pulls me in. Sometimes too much flash can be a bad thing.

They do make people want to download and rate. They cause increased interest in the ride and along with the name of the designer decide how many dls you get.

I agree with symbiotic, it will usually tend to be the case that the kind of person likeyl to put effort into creating a track and has the creative skills to do so, is also going to want to put the effort and their creative skills into producing a good screenshot. So IMO a good screen shot is indicative of a good ride. However, this is NOT always the case, just as a rule of thumb, this seems to be the case most of the time.

I usually download most rides, and what i tend to see is a correlation between screenshot quality and ride quality.

What Symbiotic said..
Just make a nice one and you got my download/rate, people do tend to not download when they see a crappy screenshot.

Yes, a screenshot is a MASSIVE part of making me download a ride. Making the 3ds, and the graphics and stuff is my favourite part of making a ride, so i like to see it when other people put alot of effort into that too! Its the thing i look at initially and despite what people say, first impressions do count for alot. However, other things can make me download too if it hasnt got a great screenshot, like really good rates (as long as they are from good designers anyway - if i see loads of rates, but from people i have never seen around the site before, then i tend to just ignore it. lol), or lots of downloads already.

Photoshop usually makes it better, and although it affects what I download and what I don't, it shouldn't.

You don't need a flashy screenshot, you need a flashy angle.
