Congrats Smiley.

Hyyyper, did you count tunnel to tunnel collisions? As long as they are in the same block they should be ok, as the tunnel isn't really there while riding. Only when track, supports, or scenery appear in a track section's tunnel should you take off for a tunnel hit. I only had 2 true tunnel hits (both supports).

I have three collisions that aren't tunnel to tunnel (one of them below the rider's reach) and I really think Jakizle or Brennan should have won.

I think it would be frowned upon if a staff member won their own contest.

I am a staff member but have absolutely nothing to do with this contest whatsoever. I get the same rules and templates at the same time as everyone else and actually have never talked to hyyyper. Why would it be frowned upon? I would have earned it just as much as anyone else.

Tunnel-to-tunnel-hits were not counted as tunnelhits. Do note that I use the tunnel from the ConstructionKit, because the new tunnel's shape isn't practical.

And Jake didn't lost because he was a staff member, just because his track was not better as unfortunate_smiley's.

And how is that fair? I don't have the construction kit and nor do other competitors I'm sure. All I had to test was the NL tunnels, which only give me 2 hits, not 7. I thought you said somewhere that you were going to use the 1.55 tunnels? I dunno. NL 1.7 has very large tunnels and I still only have 2 hits...and only 1 that could do any damage.

^The tunneling feature in the constructionkit is part of the free version.
I mentioned it in one of the other rounds, i believe the first.
And yes it is fair because you all got the same deducion for having at least 1 serious tunnelhit.

My goodness! I didn't really expect to win this, honestly. I thought I had a shot based on my layout alone, but I expected to be beat out by my oddly built second half. It's often a toss up as to which track a judge will go to, and it went in my favor today. Thanks for the kind words everyone. Thanks especially to Hyyyper for your time, templates, and dedication. Congrats to my podium sharers, and thank you all for the competition, which raised my level of work for sure. I think this has been a pretty good tournament despite the early problems, and hopefully next year we can fill out the bracket a little better in the early rounds.

In summation, Whoo!

"because [I think should be inserted here] his track was not better as unfortunate_smiley's."

Congrats to smiley...I will say I disagree with the judgement of the final round, but I'm happy for you.

I believe everybody knows that ratings are always subjective in some way.

So, the question is, do you guys want me to run the 2009 tournament? Or did I screw up that much that you'll let someone carry on?

hyyyper, that was unfair. It "was" available in the free version now the website has been taken offline. I know CC and CS are hosting mirrors, but you can't count on everyone to know where to download it.

I still can't believe a staff member entered their own contest. Especially for money, it's crazy.

Ratings are always going to be biased when you know who's on the other end, it's natural and it will affect your judgement.

The best way to solve this is to hide the identity of the user. This means they are not allowed to upload the ride to the exchange.

They will instead send the track to an indirect party, maybe Oscar who can then filter out any track information that will identify you.

He can then forward them to the person rating the coasters which will result in a competely unbiased voting session.

I would happy to host next years contest.

I think you did a good job hyyyper and you certainly have good enthusiasm. I too disagree with the judgement of the final round, but at the end of the day, it was your opinion, and there is nothing wrong with that.

That's why i think we should have 2 judges next year, or at least one judge all the way up until the final, and a poll at the final.

Just a suggestion.

hyyyper, nice all around effort on the contest. I have to say that the templates were all challenging, maybe at times restrictive, but still all really cool.

Congrats to those who made it to the final four. It was entertaining watching the whole contest. Bummed I didnt join, but there is always next year.

Absolutely not. You picked the stand out worst track of the four to win. How you arrived at that conclusion is totally beyond me.

I lost, I know it, and I should have lost so I don't feel cheated or anything, but Brennan and Jakizle's tracks were WAY the hell better. I was under the impression that there were two clear leaders and two clear not so good ones and you pick one of the not so good ones. I know everyone has a different opinion but come the hell on.

Overall templates, timing, etc were all excellent it's just I can't fathom where you came up with some of your results. In previous rounds I found some of your ratings a bit strange but I ignored it, this one was a bit ridiculous though.

The contest as a whole this time around was way the hell better ran than last year's contest. Last year's contest was a complete joke with the whole "lets let someone submit a version and cheat" idea along with the favoritism and horrible templates present.

Yeah...I agree with ckmwm about the template ideas and such, as that was all well done, but I think someone else should make rules and judge. Someone more...experienced and knowledgeable. Sorry.
