i found these videos of my ship in 1994..
in this video i am the one climbing onto my ciws mount to re load it, facing the camera is fc3 payton, and i cannot tell who the others are..
*edit* now that i watched closer we were actually unloading the spent brass and replacing the cartridges with the dummy rounds that kept the ciws balanced

yes, it is. one of the two very first block 1 systems(pneumatic driven chain gun with 4500 round drum and 360 degree search radar array) that were aboard the uss duluth.they were brand spanking new and the first of that block when i came aboard straight out of "C" school, which made it a very lucrative billet. the best thing about that gun fire controll system is that it's 100 percent run, maintained and repaired by firecontrolmen, NO GUNNERS MATES, and no electronics technicians.. even the magazines were ours alone..

That is interesting. I only recognized it because Canada uses the same sytem.

yeah.. but i think we were still using depleted uranium. at leas for sure we were on my first ship
