I know this is a little late, but driving school has kept me really occupied. But on to the trip report.

This year back in January or so I got the flyer for the annual CoasterMania at Cedar Point. I've been wanting to go for the past 2 or 3 years, but I have always been in school still. Well this year school was out and I was finally able to go. And from what I have heard from other people, this was the year to go. My mom and I drove the 3 hours to Cedar Point on Thursday. We arrived earlier than expected, so we decided to head to the park on the Starlight tickets. It was a smart move because majority of the lines were really short. I got to ride quite a few coasters that night. I got some rides on Raptor, Corkscrew, Millennium Force, Mantis, Blue Streak, Maverick, Mean Streak, Magnum, Disaster Transport, and Top Thrill Dragster. The longest line I waited was about 45 minutes for Maverick, but 15-20 minutes of that wait was actually sitting in a train ready to go, but it had a small breakdown. We didn't stay too late at the park, only till about 8:45, because we had to wake up at 4:30 the next morning.

Let me tell you, roller coasters are the only things that are going to get me up at 4:30am. Ever. [lol] Anyways, we got to the park around 5:30am and basically walked straight into the park (only a small wait). We were welcomed with free sweetshirts (even though it was in the 90's that day [sillyme]) and cups to get free refills all day. The four morning ERTs were on Raptor, Blue Streak, Millennium Force, and Maverick. I skipped Blue Streak and only got one ride on Raptor, but I got 7 rides on MF and got 4 rides on Maverick. After I got those great rides, I took a little bit of time to take pictures of the early morning and the peacefulness of a fairly empty park. From there my mom and I just casually walked around and I jumped on rides as we passed them. I was able to cruise a little slower on Friday because we did the Starlight. From Noon-1pm the event held a Q&A with the heads of Cedar Point. Some great questions were asked, and some answers were even better. We were told that if you are into the Halloweekends, this is the year to come, because it is going to be Bigger and Better.

There was this one Q/A that got me thinking. One person asked "Have you considered tearing down Mean Streak and replacing it with something like Renegade or Troy?" The one EVP grabbed the microphone and stated something along the lines of "Yes we have thought about some of the things people have said about Mean Streak, and we are always looking at different options." He then stated (and I quote word for word) "Taking Mean Streak down is going to be hard." That answer struck me instantly. Notice how he used the present tense and said "is going to be hard." To me he is kind of implying that its coming down soon. You would think he would say something like "it would be hard to try and take it down." Maybe its just me, but its food for thought.

Back to the main event. From 2-3:30 lunch was served. We had chicken, pasta, potato salad, and baked beans. On the tables there were free caramel apples and boxes of taffy. For dessert they had ice cream cups, cookies, and cotton candy. Like I said, we were treated well. After lunch we just cruised around the park some more until the night ERT. Oh and they took a vote at the end of the Q&A whether to add Maverick to night ERT as well. The vote passed, and so for evening ERT there was Magnum, Gemini, Jr. Gemini, Maverick, and Top Thrill Dragster. The night ERT was approaching and everyone was excited, and then around 10:00pm, it started to rain. [:O] Everybody got really nervous at that point. But thankfully, the rain stopped after about 20 minutes, and the night ERT continued. I got one night ride on Maverick and 3 on TTD (one in front, one in back, and one in the middle). Over by TTD, they were serving free Nachos n' Cheese and Soft Drinks to all of the event participants.

The only complaint that I have about the whole entire day is that it was really hot. It hit around 99 degrees in the middle of the day. Otherwise it was a great event, and I got to meet some great people that actually knew what they were talking about (you know how you get some people calling it the twisty-spinny loopy-d-doo. ugh.) Also it was the longest day I have ever experienced. I was in the park from 5:30am-12:30am, which is about 19 hours! The last thing my mom told me before we passed out back in the hotel was "We just started a new tradition." [approve][:D]

Now for some pics that I took. A lot of them don't much activity due to the fact they were taken 2 hours before the park opened to the public [:p]
