The left side seems to have much faster pacing throughout the whole ride.

The ramp like hills and the seemingly non existent airtime on the right side first drawn out hill after the drop.

Rolling Thunder is in my bottom 2 or so, of all the full sized coasters I've been on. Boring, very rough, slow, lacking airtime...

"Just because it is old doesn't mean it is classic." I thought this quote from "live Free or Die Hard" would be a perfect fit for this topic.

I agree, that and nearly every ride at SFGAdv imo. The only 3 coasters which I thought were decent there were Batman, El Toro, and GASM (rest in peace). The rest were just meh to me.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

lol, GASM decent, but Nitro (the most ridden ride of the year at any Six Flags in the country), and Kingda Ka aren't. Opinions are opinions...but you sure have an unusual one.

Where did you ride Kingda Ka and Nitro?

Kingda Ka sucked when I rode it. I'm pretty sure it needed new wheels, and it shook the hell out of me. This would be fine on anything below 80 MPH, but at 128ish or whatever MPH it hurts a lot. Also, the launch wasn't as fun as any of the other intamin accelerator coasters I've been on. It felt as if it accelerated, then coasted, then accelerated, then coasted, so the launch was not as steady as I had hoped, and imo not as fun, nor did it give quite the same sense of speed as say TTD. THe tower was ruined by the shakiness as well for me, I felt that I was being shaken around too much to enjoy the ride, and I usually do not mind roughness that much (I once rode wildcat @ LC 5 times in a row, not sure why).

Nitro was just boring. I can honestly say that it was the worst B&M hyper I have been on. I didn't even get floater where I was sitting.

Rough coaster is rough. Didn't feel my time was particularly well spent riding it on the second day I was there, rode the twwo sides on the first day and then left it the second. It was pretty awful, so ... maybe it is a jet coaster? [lol]

Rolling Thunder is by far one of my least favorite coasters ever. Boring, rough, slow, no air, and never any sensation of speed.

That inconsistent acceleration is effectively gone now. As far as I can tell/understand, they fixed it while the ride was down last year when it got hit by lightning. There's a clear difference and improvement. Now, there's the low jerk it always had, followed by constant acceleration until it detaches from the catch car, and of course still that 1.5 seconds of near top speed at the end of the launch track.

You also must not have ridden in the front car...that's where I always ride, and it's never rough at all there. Very smooth, incredibly fast, just all around exciting for me. Anywhere behind the front car and you won't get the sensation of speed as much from the reduced visibility and wind.

I've ridden Nitro maybe 100x, and not once have I not come out of the seat (assuming no stapling like they seem to enjoy doing). I always sit front row or back 3 rows, so maybe you sat in the middle on a cold day. That and stapling are the only situations I can see where it might be possible to not 'get floater.' It's not the most exciting ride ever, but it's not designed to be. It's designed to be a high-capacity ride that everyone likes, and they've clearly succeeded given the ridership numbers.

The POV video reminded me of Grizzly at CGA. Different layout, just about as exciting and smooth. A family woody that hasn't been getting the TLC it needs.
Be sure you're not looking in a mirror before you start pointing fingers.

Please then explain to me why Rolling Thunder deserves to be ranked with Phoenix as a classic ride.

I personally find Rolling Thunder to be a classic. Simply because I grew up with it. I have never gone to Great Adventure and not gone on Rolling Thunder. I think that the best part has to be when you are waiting on the brake run and you get to make the train wobble side to side. That waiting prevents it from being the worst ride I've ridden. It leaves Mean Streak, Cedar Creek and Corkscrew at the lowest.
