Not really. I finished one of my degrees just recently through the University of Phoenix (online) and had zero issues with the GI bill or tuition assistance. As a matter of fact, I paid for almost zero % out of my pocket. Then again, I have been in 18 years and it is quite possible that the rules that I fall under (grandfathered in) are quite different than those of the kids coming in as of late.

The Republican party was a major force in killing the electric car GM created. Not only did they kill it, they crushed the prototypes. Oil companies pressured GM into abandoning the idea and so did the leadership which is the Bush Administration, another group of people closely tied to oil companies. Feel free to research this.

You all want lower gas prices and you're going to vote for the party tied to that?

But Matt, if we don't have those oil companies and find a different way to provide energy, civilization as we know it will collapse! We should thank them for having their hands in each other's pants, and making sure they make lots of money along the way.

Not at all man, perhaps because the military has not only tuition assistance available ($750 per class) and then on top of that I use the GI Bill to supplement the difference.

No matter who you vote for you are screwed.

I'm not even registered yet though. And Im not sure if I will. I suppose I could care less either way because it seems like everyone involved in politics these days have their own agenda. It doesnt seem like they're trying to solve problems. They're just screaming at each other about why the other person is wrong and at the end of the day nothing happens.

I dont know if I want my voice to be apart of that system, but its something I'll keep an eye on.

Interestingly enough for our "new" voters out there, this is not a new thing ... each has only always been into their own agenda, regardless of the candidate or the rhetoric spewed out on a daily, flip-flopping, method.

it just kind of sucks. i love my country way too much to elect someone who'll sell us out to the lowest common domestic denominator, but at the same time the concept of us being sold to the highest foreign bidder sucks too.

If that's really true (or close to it) then that's what I've been thinking all along. It's the fuel companies. I remember a little while back some upper-tiered man retired from an oil company and got like 200 million dollars for his pension.

Without refineries we cannot harvest ... and there seems to be a blockade on opening more refineries. That much has been common place news for years now. Considering that there is loads of money to be made in $4 a gallon vice opening a new refinery, it is not really a stretch, IMO.

Jay, what scares me so much is that we, as a nation, are so far in debt to other nations, that they will not even have to fire a shot to take over. Consider if China decided to call in some markers ... dear God, we would be teaching Chinese in grammar school.

On another matter, Obama now wants his supporters to help Hillary pay off her debt? What???? Listen lady, if you cannot afford the bill, don't go into the store. Geesh. Do you think he might be helping her clear her a debt for a reason? Hmmmmmmm?

How exactly does this kind of situation come about? Because there seems to be a similar situation in this country. I'm not entirely certain how it is possible for a country to reach this kind of situation, surely any form of intelligent leadership of anything, be it a business or a country, would make sure situations such as this were impossible? At least I would have thought.

The United States is in debt to SEVERAL major nations throughout the world (mostly out of our own generosity and inability to manage our budget). So, consider those nations like a bank ... should those "banks" start calling in loans, we are dead in the water.

Yes, we are TRILLIONS of dollars in debt. Bush lowered it a lot during his eight years. Both candidates are not good; I truly have a really bad feeling for the next four (hopefully...) years.

did i read this correctly...bush LOWERED our debt? You mean he added the most out of any president in history... big difference. clinton has been the only president in quite a while to chip into our debt and create a surplus.

Now we're trillions in the red. Why people don't find this a problem is completely baffling. I'd like to see a comparison with inflation adjusted for the king in France (I forgot which one) that built the Versailles palace and pummeled that country into debt.

That's strange then. The person I talk to about politics said Bush lowered the debt some. And don't go criticizing her about her politics; don't even think about it. If she were to get on here and have her say you'd all have your jaw dropped. Make sure you don't get all your info from the news, either. Most of the mainstream media is far left.

Oh, and I do know that Bush initiated the war in Iraq that has been causing us billions.

You missed my point though. We're over $9,000,000,000,000 in debt and whether or not that thing is accurate to every dollar spent every second doesn't really matter. My guess is that they just have it going up at the average rate that the debt is going up at, $1.38 billion per day according to them.
