This Afrikaans school is pretty close to where I live. Now I'm wondering what f#ed up idiots lives close to me as they are trying to blame everything but the offender. Just look at the little history paragraph of Slipknot at the end of this article. This is causing serious debates in SA now. WTH are they going to find next a copy of UT3 in his room, oh wait they?????????ll probably try to nail GTA IV again.

We know the wrong kind of music, and drugs have bad effects. Young people need to be informed of the effects of bad Satanic music

Seriously, WTF? This is just like when they blamed the Columbine killings on Marilyn Manson. I'm no fan of him or Slipknot, but to say that their music is harmful to kids is ludicrous. If the kid said Satan told him to kill people, then he has some serious mental issues that were probably there before his started using drugs, if he does at all.

Ok dude f.y.i my cousin was best friends with the guys who did columbine and they wernt what the media says. Everyone says that they were satanic and thats not the case. The kids were bullied to no end. They went to the principle, all there teachers, every outlet they could but noone did anything about it. So there only way out (atleast as they saw it) was to shoot the bullies. So in retrospect they had it coming. I'm not trying to sound smart or be rude but im just saying when they are treated the way they were and given the circumstances its not as bad as it still seems, yet its still pretty bad. Maybe thats how the kids at this school were, i don't know. Its still not right by any means but in columbine if the teachers had listened up, or the principle not throw their complaints out the window, or the littleton police actually listened maybe it would have happened.

Just remember, it's not the first time people have tried to blame their personal problems on music.

Here?????????s a more detailed report on what exactly happened at Nick Diederichs.

Pic of Slipknot's band members for the non Rock lovers.
Image
Lean????????? du Plessis and Amanda Roestoff, Beeld
Johannesburg - "You want to see something cool?"

Then, in front of his classmates, a "posessed" and masked Morn????????? Harmse, 18, slashed open the neck of a fellow pupil at Nic Diederichs Technical High School in Krugersdorp.

"Watch out! He's lost it!" pupils shouted as the Grade 12 learner pulled out what looked like a Samurai sword and slashed the neck of Jacques Pretorius, 16.

Pupils said Harmse was "possessed by the devil" when he began his violent attack at about 07:20.

"Do you want to see something cool?" he apparently said to a matric girl moments before he sliced through Pretorius's aorta.
Pretorius's best friend, 16-year-old JC Welman, was standing next to him when he was attacked.

Thought it was a joke
"I was still wondering if it wasn't a joke but then I saw the blood bubbling out of his neck," Welman said, in tears.

Pretorius died on the scene, said Netcare 911 spokesperson Mark Stokoe.
Stunned pupils told how Harmse, wearing his school uniform and a black-and-brown mask, walked down the passage and swung his sword about.

Harmse also injured two workers at the school during his rampage and slashed another pupil, Stefan Bouwer, 17.

Face smeared black
Harmse finally pressed the blade of the sword into the ground in a small garden next to the school courtyard and sat down.
He pulled off his mask when teachers approached. Under the mask, his face had been smeared black with polish.

"What happened? What happened?" a dazed Harmse asked the teachers, who took him to the staff room.
"Satan said he is going to kill me if I don't kill them before the end of the day," he apparently had said earlier.

Pupils sent home
Pupils were already in assembly when they heard the police sirens.
"A teacher came in after the prayer and said we had to go home until further notice," a pupil said.

A reliable source said Harmse had brought four masks, similar to those worn by the heavy metal band Slipknot, in his school bag.
Apparently he was also carrying three swords.
The source said one of the masks was white, similar to that of Slipknot's drummer Joey.

Another mask was a clown mask, similar to band member Shawn's, and the third mask was a gasmask as worn by the DJ, Sid.
During the attack Harmse apparently wore the mask that is similar to the one belonging to the lead singer Corey.

Wanted friends to join him
Apparently Harmse tried to persuade a few of his friend to join him in the rampage.
He reportedly told them: "Today is the day you can get back at those who were against you."
Harmse apparently also used words such as "masquerade" and "bloodbath".
His friends said his eyes were red and black "like those of a crazy person".

Welman was supported on Monday by his father Johan, his mother Christine and his friend JP Britz, 17.
"We (Pretorius and Welman) met each other just after 07:00 at the tree (near the school's main gate), like we do every day.

"We walked to the tuck shop. He bought me a red Foxi Nax and we ate it on the stairs next to the tuck shop," Welman said.
They were on their way to the hall when the attack occurred, Welman said.
Welman ran away and phoned his father from his cellphone.

'I kept talking to him'
A few minutes later his father arrived at the school and accompanied him back to where Pretorius was.
"I kept talking to him, because I was scared he would lapse into a coma.
"I held his leg ... his eyes were open, but I could see it was already too late," Welman said.

Pretorius's friends and family stood outside the family's house, their eyes red from crying.
Elize Froneman, the acting director of the West Rand Department of Education, referred all questions to the Gauteng Department of Education.
Dani?????????lla du Plooy reports that Panyaza Lesufi, who visited the school on Monday, said it was "a sad day for the department".

"We have been confronted with a lot of school violence recently, but nothing of this nature.
"We'll do everything in our power to control the situation and to prevent similar incidents."

Second suspect
Beeld was told confidentially that Harmse and another 18-year-old boy were arrested on Monday.
However, police spokesperson Jacob Raboroko could only confirm one arrest.
The suspect(s) are expected to appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court on Tuesday on charges of murder and attempted murder.

You are a complete IDIOT. Your cousin should do some research on his friends since he seems to be pretty goddamned dumb by what you've said.

Those kids planted bombs in the cafeteria of that school that would have killed AT LEAST 200 kids had the kids been smarter and actually built them correctly. The diversionary bombs they put in a field to distract police did go off. History would be very different if the two had picked the other two for the diversions and put the working ones in the cafeteria.

That was not "getting back at kids" that was being a wannabe badass dumb I Love You!.

Move over, Marilyn Manson. The masked men in Slipknot are the latest heavy metal dudes being blamed for a school slaying. On Monday, a teen wielding a sword attacked four people at his high school in Krugersdorp, South Africa, killing one. According to eyewitness accounts, the suspect was wearing a mask similar to that of Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison. A community leader was quick to blame "bad Satanic music" for the incident.

Slipknot front man Corey Taylor calls bullI Love You!. "Obviously, I'm disturbed by the fact that people were hurt and someone died," he tells Blender. "As far as my responsibility for that goes, it stops there, because I know our message is actually very positive." In the past, when Slipknot was linked to real-world violence, "I used to sweat it really hard," he adds. "But the thing I have to realize is the fact that I'm not encouraging anybody to kill anybody. I encourage our fans to express themselves, to stick together and to help each other."

"You have something like this happen, it could have been Marilyn Manson, it could have been any number of people who make art that is startling visually, on the darker side. It could've been Pat Boone, for Christ's sake. At the end of the day, there are always going to be mental disorders and people who cause violence for no other reason than the fact that they're I Love You!ed up and lost. And all we can do is try to learn from it."

Meanwhile, Slipknot ????????? whose fourth album, All Hope Is Gone, comes out next week ????????? have been forced to cancel their upcoming European festival dates to allow Jordison time to recover from a broken ankle.

I think it's rediculous that the media is giving Slipknot any sort of responsibility for this.

Again im not defending them but all im saying is that music is not the source of why they did what they did.

No you didn't. You mentioned nothing of the music. You tried to defend them. You defended terrorists.

Quit while you're ahead and learn to shut up, it's an important skill.
