COASTERCRAZY 2008 COASTERDRAFT[/b]
Welcome to this year??????s installment of the Coasterdraft.
For those of you who are new to the Coasterdraft: The Coasterdraft is a game where the twelve players each pick twelve coasters from parks all over the globe to make the perfect mix between the coaster types or styles.
The players
Only twelve CC.com members can join the Coasterdraft. The top 4 of last year have received an invitation and, if the invitation is accepted, they are automatically in.
The other spots are open to anyone who has made at least 50 posts or more in the CC.com forums. After the sign-up period is closed, the remaining spots then be filled by people who signed up, will of course will be completely random. A back-up list will be make, in case a player quits, and his spot becomes available.
The start
Once the twelve players have been selected, each player will pick a number and post it in the topic. You cannot pick a number that has already been picked. Once everybody has picked a number or the 3-day deadline has passed, another number will be randomly chosen and the player who??????s number is closest to the random number will get ??????pole position??????. The player that is the furthest away from the randomly picked number will be last. If you fail to pick a number within the deadline, you'll automatically last.
The rounds
The Coasterdraft has twelve rounds. If a player picks a coaster every round, he??????ll end up with twelve coasters. If you happen to miss one round, you can get a maximum of eleven coasters, and so on.
A round starts when I give the signal (usually with a list of already picked coasters from previous rounds).
When a round is over, the person who started the round goes to the bottom of the list and the person listed 2nd will start the next round. This means that each round the list changes so that each player becomes the starter of a round (at least) once.
The picking
Every player gets 24 hours to pick a coaster. This can be 24 hours from the start of a round (if you??????re first in line) or 24 hours from the time the player before you picked a coaster.
EXAMPLE:
The round starts 1st of September at 2:11 PM. Player 1 has until September 2nd, 2:10 PM.
Player 1 happens to get up early and picks ??????Wacky Worm?????? at 5:45 AM (Sept. 2nd). This means that Player 2 has until 5:44 AM on September 3rd to make his pick.
When you decided on a coaster, you must clearly state which coaster and in what park it stands. You can only pick coasters that are open to the public at the moment you pick that coaster.
If you pick a dueling or racing coaster, you have two options:
1. You name the side or half of the dueling/racing coaster and you will get only that side or half.
2. You get both sides or halves but you??????ll have to skip your turn the next round.
If you pick a coaster that is not open or a coaster that has already been picked, you have until the end of your 24 hours or until the next player picks his coaster to correct your mistake.
If a coaster closes down after the pick has been made, the pick will remain valid.
Missing a turn
If you miss a turn, 24 hours will be added to the time the player before you picked his coaster (or to the the round started) and that new time is the deadline for the next player.
If you miss three rounds in total, you will be disqualified and the coasters will not become available for other players to pick. Also, the player's spot will not become available for other players.
If you know you are going to miss a turn, you can PM with a list of coasters and I will make that pick for you.
Taking over a spot
If you don??????t want to be part of the Coasterdraft for whatever reason (except disqualification) you can transfer your spot to another member. This member will be from the back-up list made after the players were drawn. Once you give up your spot, you cannot get it back. If you take over some one's spot, you continue with all the coasters, missed turn(s) and possible deadlines of the person you take over.
If, for whatever reason, you get banned from CC.com, your spot will be transferred to another member.
The winner
After all the rounds are finished, you will have 72 hours to post your park name once I give the signal. After that a topic will be opened with the players, their park and their coasters.
Members with at least 50 posts have a week to post their top-3 parks. After that week of rating, the winners will be announced.
Prizes for the top 4 are invitations to next year's draft, and perhaps some points.
