Just like the title says, How do you like your launched coasters? With or Without a warning before launch?

I think when you add selections like the last one, it ruins the effect of the poll, lol. Anyway, I've only been on one launched, Steel Venom. Quite honestly, I like it either way, but lately, the Ops think they're SO cool and go:

Ready?...3...2-GO!

no warning, I love the suprise effect. Although, on a coaster you can see when it's ready for a launch. I love the suprise effect on a shot 'n drop tower better ^_^
Coastercount: 1410 (I've seen the world and it's horrid contraptions... @.@)
- Wood: 142
- Steel: 1268

OMG that totally reminds me of during my first time at dorney back in 2004 when my mom and dad forced me on the green tower of dominator! And that was wat made me really skeptical about riding VooDoo a few weeks ago.

TBH, I've never been on a launched coaster...
(Eagerly awaiting the Mirabilandia 2009 Inta accelerator tho! [;)])

But, on the shot tower at Mirabilandia, there was this one time, when it went
tre due launch. therefore I didn't even have time to get air untill the top of the tower.

Definatly depends on the speed and acceleration of the launch. Higher speeds I want somewhat of a warning.

Intiman you will always get somewhat of a warning because the train always rolls back and when people know they are going to be launched any movement will make them look forward.

I have been on a few launch coasters but I can't say I really care. But those launches where not that powerfull. I did think the launch from Desert Race was pretty forcefull, but I have never ridden things like TTD and such. So, I can't compare.

If launches are so powerfull I guess a little warning would be nice. And as Dirk mentioned. A shot and drop tower or maybe a gyrodrop's fall is much more surprising.

When you say warning do you mean, no warning sign? or do you mean a brake before the launch?

If you launch without a waring the GP might get hurt because they slam their head into the seat because of the accel G's

They're supposed to do that, lol... They do it on Wicked Twister too. It's part of the intamin impulse coaster experience.

I kind of like something a bit different. I like a pre-launch warning that lets you know you'll be launching soon, but doesn't tell you exactly when. That is when the anticipation sets in, and the wait kills you.

I really don't like countdowns, though. That spoils all the fun.

Wicked Twister is just awesome. Me and my brother went on at night when the hot summer lights were starting so there was no wait, we ride the first time and the op let us stay in our seat for the second. They cleared us and then the station lights went out and then the ride op launched us, we thought there was a power outage and everytime we came through the station the lights were out or flashing it was awesome.

They haven't done it until this year, and it was just one day. But IDK. The girl in the booth had this smug little grin on her face after thinking she kept surprising us, lol.

Honestly, I don't know if you would count TTD as a warning, but when you ride it at night, it's amazing. You get to see the orange light, no time to focus on the green one, because you're gone my friend. That ride beats KK any day.

KK gives absolutley no warning but TTD that first light is the take off because a second later your gone. They are the same ride in my opinion, KK just has the added bonus of soaring 100+ ft above the ground at +100mph on that hump.

I think the weird accent guy at the start of Rita going "get those engines revving, lights are on! 3...2....1 Go, GO, GO! really adds to the whole experience actually, and I feel as if it would be somewhat flat without it.

Same goes for Stealth.

I have been on a few launch coasters...all sorts of them...oh btw...the Green Dominator...once u stop at the top say GO...then count 1 on thousand 2 one thousand and so on...normally...u get to about eight one tho...AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!...you dont get to nine haha...

Anyway...Volcano and the two Flight of Fears i liked cuz there is no warning...but with volcano its better cuz u slowly roll out and unless you pay attention to the rides before you, you never know exactly when its going to launch.

Wicked Twister, Voodoo, TTD, and Hypersonic I think use the warning to a good effect. Like "Voodoo will posses you in 3 2 1"...then it goes. And the colored tree lights fit the theme with dragster.

The Italian Job (Whoops...I mean err...Backlot Stunt Coasters)...do the rite thing to...it all really depends on the theme...like FOF and Volcano need no warnings...but when done correctly in some instances I think they are used rather effectively...almost to make it mor surprising...like on Voodoo...it almost makes the GP more scared cuz they are like OMG OMG OMG NO NO NO NO NO...where as if its a surprise it just happens...with the countdown...they KNOW when they are going the S*** their pants. HAHA

That Actually happened to me on Voodoo! I was all ready for the 3 2 1 Then the girl said "Are you Ready??" Than a few seconds later I let my gaurd down and she launched us.[launch] But I still loved the experiance. So even If they stop doing the countdown I Will still go on that ride. The key is to always expect the launch, with or without warning.
