The only things Great Adventure has on CP are El Toro and Nitro, the Point could definitely use a B&M hyper somewhere. But I still think CP is better, and Dragsters owns Kinga Ka anyways.

You're kidding right?

Cedar Point has Maverick, Millennium Force, Raptor, and Magnum. All of which are better than everything GAdv has to offer except maybe El Toro. If you're all gonna limp along on El Toro, then Everland is better than Great Adventure because it has T Express and the ridiculous suspended coaster.

Wouldn't it be awesome if CP scrapped Mean Streak and replaced it with an Intamin Pre-fab woodie like El Toro? Wow. That would be sick.

About the question, ummmm... I'm going to say CP simply because it has more to do, but if SFGA got a few more (good) coasters, I would pick them instead.

I can tell right now this will become a Cedar Point fanboy thread.

Not really.

CP Wins:
Nitro < Magnum
Kingda Ka < Dragster
Rolling Thunder < Gemini
Batman < Raptor

Scrapping mean streak would be great, but not for a prefab woody... Scrapping DT would be truly amazing, if it were replaced by a euro fighter.

I thought Magnum was boring and rough. I think with CP's addition of Maverick and GAdv's removal of Chiller, CP is better coaster-wise (and all around, but that's another story), however beforehand I thought it was about even. Here's my breakdown:

Before Chiller's removal and Maverick's addition, here are the major players:

El Toro, Kingda Ka, Nitro, Chiller, Medusa, Superman, and Batman ~=
Millennium Force, Dragster, Magnum, Wicked Twister, Mantis, and Raptor.

Now, CP > GAdv because of those two major changes.

I expect CP will increase it's lead in the coming years.

I've never been to CP, but, do they have any room?

Great Adventure owns a ton of land all the way around a huge lake. They could be adding a dive machine because there's one lying in the B&M Factory yard, and who knows what they will do in the future with the amazing amount of land they have, and the amazing location. NYC, Philly, even D.C., and many other places are not far away.

I think Gadv has huge potential, and I feel like they could really take over CP, CP's running low on amount of land in my opinion

I absolutely loved Nitro and El Toro was pretty insane, and they both look better than anything at CP to me...so I say SFgadv.

Land may be an issue but you have to consider how Six Flags is doing as a company. I can't see them adding a whole lot of large coasters to GAdv either in the next 10 years, and definately not as freqently as they have in the past. CP seems to still be doing well, and especially if they do something like removing Mean Streak they'll have space with which to work. Maybe in the long run GAdv will surpass CP, but CP already has a lead now IMO, and Six Flags just doesn't seem like it can do much about it right now because of money issues.

Nitro < Millennium Force and Magnum. I don't know, I guess after riding Behemoth 50+ times Nitro seems pretty forceless. Still lots of fun though, I just think Magnum and MF are more intense.

Raptor is one of the most forceful and action packed inverts there is, and Maverick is just a ride that needs to be experienced to understand.

Kingda Ka, sorry, Dragster just owns you in every possible way. The restraints, smoothness, hype and atmosphere make Dragster a thousand times more fun to ride. Sorry if you don't get how that makes it a LOT better, I guess you just need to check them both out yourself to see what I mean!

Mean Streak and El Toro? Aha.

Gemini obviously beats out Rolling Thunder. Rolling Thunder just sucks, end of story.

The new Dark Knight ride was a waste of money...

Superman: Ultimate Flight is a pretty fun ride, but it can't be compared to anything at Cedar Point. Except Raptor (I guess), in which case it is killed, haha.

Medusa and Mantis, Medusa takes it by a long shot. They can burn Mantis down and replace it with a boomerang and I'd be happy[lol]

But yeah, overall, Cedar Point takes it for sure. If CP had an Intamin prefab, I wouldn't even need to think about it at all.

I'm really still clueless on how poeople can think 1 strata is better than the other. I mean the only huge difference is on has a cammelback. I still don't get why most people consider them coasters. To me their just a thrill ride.

That is the best explanation of that ride I have ever heard.

While I haven't ridden KK, and it's been 4 years since TTD, I still love to go over there and watch it. Also, the restraints is a good point. Why would they add OSTR's on KK...

Mean Streak isn't great. It needs to be either scrapped, retracked yearly, or get new trains or something.

I think Cedar Point needs a flying coaster, especially one with a pretzel. Many know my story with the S:UF pretzel loop and how much I love it.

Wrong. They need to replace the trains with floorless cars. In theory, it's a very simple change. I think the track size should be the same, the cars bending radius can't be an issue because the stand up trains are taller, so there would be plenty of room for the floorless cars. The physics and performance can't be THAT much of a difference, and could at least just be tested.

Um. Like it's been explained before, TTD has great lap restrains, KK has unnecessary shoulder restraints. And TTD's atmosphere has got to be better. I mean how could you theme a launching coaster that goes 130 miles an hour about animals and tigers, etc. when it's a much more fitting theme of drag racing.

I think the jungle theme of Ka is incredible. They did a really great job with it. I'd rather be in a cool forest seeing something rising far away 470 feet in the air, than dragster just sitting there on a plot of concrete. I think Ka's theme owns dragsters. Hearing the drums while in line gets you in a good mood and gets you pumped for the ride. The location of TTD may be better for a view, but Ka has done an amazing job with theming. Having not been there, you would probably think TTD has a better theme, I did before going to Gadv.

^^Yeah, I thought about the change from stand up to floorless on Mantis, but I just kinda figured they won't do it. I don't really have a reason for that, but I just have a feeling they aren't gonna do it. Plus, there's still usually a decent line for it. But, if they do make the change, that'd be awesome.

^I completely disagree. The idea of TTD is awesome, the way they placed it in the center of the park for everybody to walk in and around the ride, watching it from every angle and from everywhere in the park. Hell, they even have bleachers set up to watch. The location of it gets everybody so excited and nervous, and the crew is usually pumping everybody up. Everyone around is cheering and yelling whenever a train comes to the breaks, it's such an exciting atmosphere!

On Kinda Ka, there isn't much of an atmosphere. The did a nice job on the station, but everybody and everything is really dull...No excitement, lazy crew, blah. It doesn't give me the same feeling as Dragster at all.

^first of all- I think they finaly replaced the wheels because it was smooth as glass when i went on it a couple weeks. Maybe one headbang and some jerky brakes but i still liked it. The trains aren't uncomfortable unless you are sitting on it. Lower it down an extra notch and tighten the restraints and voila!

Second- The heartline wouldn't be right for the floorless trains. Unless they made the seats awkwardly high up to fit the track shaping.

The heartline would be off, and you'd hate it as a floorless since standup coasters are designed to kill G's. Even notice all of the flat sections on Riddler's Revenge? Ever notice why they use dive loops so much? It's because dive loops have a very weak pull up so they only have to worry about the exit.

I didn't even consider the heartline. I don't know why I forgot. But it's a very valid point, though I don't know how much it would effect lateral G's and ride comfort. My guess is not a lot.

EDIT: I was also thinking as a wild idea that there could be both. Add a dual-loading station (there's already an s-bend in front of the station for it!) and have the floorless in one and stand up on the other. Have the line split somewhere, and signs/car seat examples that show which way you would go. That's probably not feasible, but I think it would be excellent.

Are floorless and standup's the same type of track? I could never tell.

yeah, but surely the stand-ups have a heartline that is further from the track. Surely for them to change the trains from Stand-up to Floorless, the track would have to change also?
