i am having the problemings with roller coaster tycoon 1. my problem is that when i start the program it displays the loading screen for a few seconds before saying: rollor coaster tycoon has encountered a problem and needs to close yadda yadda yadda would you like to send an error report?

i have tried running in different compatability modes numerous times and changing all the different settings but to no avail.

i am not sure what parts i have but i know i am running on either windows XP home or proffesional, it is not old computer so it definitely has the graphics and processing ability to run the game it simply refuses to, anyone care to help a poor 15 year old out?

I had issues installing RCT2 on my laptop the other day also, various error messages and such. I figured it was something to do with Vista.

If you're not running Vista then I haven't got any suggestions!

If you are running Vista however, then I suggest you uninstall it from your computer and install Windows 98. Anything produced by Microsoft after this time was almost as bad as everything produced by Apple in the same period of time.

I forgot where but I remember there is a backwards compatibility patch. Ugh, sorry I have no specifics on it, but it is out there for XP. Good luck.

it works now, but not because of the patches.
It was a simple matter of installing the add-ons and playing from them because the first disc was scatched and wouldn't read properly, thanks for the help anyway!
