Then why is it okay for people in the ghetto to drive an Escalade while on welfare?

It's called drugs son, get to the ghetto and buy some you'll help 'em out. It's the only job they're good at.

I personally think our economy wouldn't be as bad as it has gotten if all of the critics would stop predicting what is to come from our economy. Our economy is very unstable right now, and it should send worries out to everyone who's paying attention. However, I disagree with the fact of what people are saying about future crashes and such, because you never know when it will get back on the right track. It's certainly unlikely soon, but I think there is a possibility.

oh yeah.
i know that, but dont you think someone would notice that these people have enough money (no matter how its made) to have those kinds of cars, and that they shouldnt deserve welfare.
the welfare should go to the people and families who are actually having trouble and need help.
but oh well, what are you going to do.

Look, if this wasn't going on right now, there would be something else going on that we would all be being told that we should worry about. The fact is, there is always gonna be stuff like this going on. These kind of things are what makes reality real, the fact that most of reality is utter sh*te. Is it really going to make a jot of difference to anything if I become worried about this, or if I just sit on my ass and let it pass by over the next few years. The simple answer is no, no there won't be any difference, so why on earth would I be worried about it?

If it really goes crazy and I end up losing all my money for some reason, I won't be the only one AND so what? we're all gonna die anyway, so feck it and just get on with life. End of, begin roller coaster conversation once again...

And since you're a religious person, I would hope that you would look beyond what's practical and see what really needs attention.

My friend, if there is no money available -- it ain't gonna matter what NEEDS attention ... cause nothing is gonna get attention. Religious or not, the simple economics of supply and demand combined with the trickle down effect is what is going to be the undoing of this nation; and thanks to modern technology we get the priviledge of seeing it unfold before our eyes ... live on television! Oh joy.

Trickle down effect looks better on paper than it really is. It kinda depends on how "nice" your boss is.

i, for one have seen very little differene to much in my life concerning money, except that my dad has lost his job but is being posted in a different section of the same company, so that hasn't changed anything much, apart from that nothing has changed in my life in the money way except for the news which i hardly ever watch anyway, same story with my friends except their dads didn't lose their jobs, so is it just the americans?

If we go down we're taking a hell of a lot of places with us.

Exactly. I would venture to say that Europe would be next. However, here is a little something to help everyone get ahead for what is coming down the road. [;)]

I am worried, from the way our economy looks today, we're probably going to be in a depression soon.

Those aren't the people who really need help. The people you don't see when you go to the "ghetto" are the ones who need help. But this is a totally different subject.

Honestly though, I think we are going to be ok.

I mean, consider the dip in the market after 9/11, and the one in 1974 when Nixon resigned -- the market did recover ... eventually. After 9/11 it took 54 days to recover to where it was and after Nixon resigned it took roughly 5 years. Either way you view it, it DID recover. Again, I am not so much worried, as I am concerned that America learns from its past.

Howver, I can say that since we have only had 3 "measured" dips like this (the aforementioned 2 and of course The Great Depression), I think we will be ok .... like I said, eventually.

Edit: Clearly you can see for yourself that the DOW did (and does) recover:

So right now, I would not go selling anything and jumping ship, for you might really kick yourself as things rebound.

Reason 9/11 recovered is because the clear indication of war. People pumped money into the weapons manufacturers boosting the market up. I dunno what happened after Nixon.

Nixon ran the nation into the ground ... almost like what is happening today, and then confidence hit rock bottom and well -- that was that. We are practically seeing a repeat of the very same thing now, so I think it will come back -- just at what effect? That is the question, IMO.

Dow jumps 936 points and S&P up 104, in the biggest point gains ever. The Dow, S&P and Nasdaq all gain over 11%.
