HP Pavilion Tablet Pc

Yo Guys,

Well, I'm looking for a new computer now because my school makes me pay 2,000 dollars for this piece of crap Lenovo Thinkpad T-Series T61. I HATE THIS THING!!!!!!!! Everytime I turn on the damn thing, it freezes, making me restart it twice in a row and blah blah blah... So as you could see from the topic name, I was thinking about buying one of the HP Pavilion Tablet Pcs. There actually very neat, they have a swivel screen, and a touch screen, all in one little portable laptop (for those of you who don't know). Anywho, I am looking for something very portable as I take it around school with me, but at the same time I need a computer that will, 1, will work with NL smoothly, and 2, a computer that is quick. I know absolutely nothing about computers except for how to use them, thats it. If you guys have any suggestions on a good, portable laptop, let me know.

Hmmm, tablet PCs usually don't have very good specs, and are very expensive...
They are fun to play with tho, and I think NL editing should be pretty cool with one!

I would always go for a toshiba but thats personal. I never have problems with that brand. I have one now at the moment and it is now 3 years old. And still runs smooth. No Limits @ 1600x1200, antian 2x, Detail levels High. So it has a long lifetime I think.. But that's my personal opinion.

Tablet PCs aren't worth the money right now. Hold out for Windows 7 and then buy one. Windows 7 has MANY features designed for touch screen PCs. And why would you need one anyway? It's just a bunch of features that are cool but you're never gonna use.

^ actually do be honest, i would use them a lot. I have to take notes in class, and i really don't like typing all that much...

My Chemistry teacher uses a Hp Tablet PC in combo with powerpoint and a projector. I think every teacher in my school should have gotten one of these instead of the $3000 macbook pros the stupid district technology department picked out. As far as education, the hp tablet was far superior and way more portable.

Also the radeon 3200 is one of the best IGP's out there. I believe the only notebook one that supports full framed 1080p playback.

Well, it appears you have high price range, so why not try a mac? If you want to stick to PC, try out acer's higher end computers. Their lower end models aren't so good, but their pricy models are great; not loaded with much software that slows it down . I have an acer aspire blue 6820. I love it. Same follows for a gateway computer. The gateway FX notebooks are flawless spec wise.

I'm not a fan of HP, Dell, some Sony's... and I'm pretty sure no one is a fan of compaq. Some Toshiba's are nice (usually the intel centrino's and Core2's... avoid pentium).

well, responding to blackhand1001, i am actually going to use the thing for chem mostly, drawing lewis structures and all that. And for strata force, i have a mac, just cant carry it around with me, the screen is cracked, and i go to boarding school, so i didnt take it with me...

I don't see much wrong with a T-61 and it seems more than likely that you need to reload Windows. Also, a good tablet PC will be maybe $500-$600 more than even that T-61.

Whoever said wait out till Windows 7, you know it won't be coming out till summer of 2010? They say early 2010 but I am thinking the summer of.

Released Today. First consumer available tablet with a multitouch screen so this will be completely compatable with all the multitouch features of Windows 7. Also HP has implemented many multitouch features into the existing Vista operating system.
