I'm honestly surprised there isn't a topic about this yet, but anyway here goes. Yesterday a crazed gunman blew up a car in Downtown Oslo, Norway and then shot and kille 85 people at a youth camp on a nearby island.

Since there was a topic about Amy Winehouse's death, I figured the untimely deaths of 90+ innocent people could at least be spared a few minutes of our time. I didn't really care about winehouse's death when I found out about it, and I care even less since I found out about this. My thoughts go out to those who lost friends and family in this horrible massacre.

I was reading tweets live as it was happening. I was really, REALLY hoping there wouldnt be absolute carnage at the youth camp...what a coward.

Im surprised he did not commit suicide. Unless Norway has no death penalty, guess hell be shacked up for multiple lifetimes. But really, 85 people at a youth camp? DIAF (Die in a fire)

Is it a coincidence that this was posted after i bitched in the Amy Winehouse thread?

Seriously though, this is horrible. Unfortunately, Norway is a bunch of pussies when it comes to prison sentencing, for I hear the maximum sentence is 21 years or something like that. Here's a quote I found.

Norway has no death penalty. Furthermor?????????e, Norway's maximum prison sentence is 21 years. Hopefully there will be such a sentence for each life that he took, and I hope that they run consecutiv?????????ely. And, for his own safety he should be in solitary confinemen?????????t. Here's hoping the key gets lost.

He should be relased, and then the victoms families should give him the sentencing he deserves, a public death.

Max sentence in Norway is 21 years...and their prisoners live in really nice accommodations and are allowed to go out in town, work, etc.

Luckily from what I've read they are going to make an exception for this guy though, as they are calling it an act of terror.

Just terrible...tricked those poor kids into thinking he was a police officer and gathered them around to just slay them. Some of the images out on the internet from the island are just heartbreaking. Poor kids will never get to live their lives :(

RIP

Some people I know have compared this to the OK city federal building bombing, IMO this is 100x worse. Not only were they kids, but, they had to suffer the mental anguish of watching their peers die prior to their own execution. At least in the OK city bombing it was quick and unexpected. Tragedies like this are never easy to deal with and my thoughts go out to all those affected.

The slayings of the kids are not comparable to OKC. However, his WEAK attempt to take down the buildings, that is and excuse me for being really brash but hes an IDIOT. McVeigh knew how to take a huge building down and he did. What this guy did was shook the building really bad. Maybe he realized how pathetic his attempt was and his secondary target got hit harder?

I was hoping they'd make an exception for this douche. I like the public beating as well.

From news reports here in the UK, I have heard that this guy has said he will give a full explanation of what he did tommorrow. This could be speculation that it will be instantly publisised as i am unsure if it is in a court appearence or behind closed doors. Either way it would be interesting to hear why he thought it was acceptable to cause the suffering he has.

Prisoners in Norway have to spend a minimum of half there sentance in a convential prison set up before being considered to open prison. I do think they will charge him with each count of murder as a seperate count so he will stay 'locked up'.

Ohhhhhhh, f******ck, get me in a room with this pussy and he'll WISH he didn't do that to those poor kids. Sick prick!

R.I.P to all of those affected...I can't believe it, wow, wow, wow. This is just horrible. [:(]

Have any of you guys read his book that he published online Friday??? It explains all of his motives, how he made all the bombs, armour, etc. and acquired the guns. It's kinda chilling. Basically though he just hates multiculturalism in Western Europe and specifically mentions Islam colonization in Western Europe.

It's an interesting work, over 1500 pages long, I just wish he would have published it without killing all those poor people :(

So, Canon Law is alright because it's Christian, but Sharia Law is wrong because it's Muslim? I don't understand. This guy is on par with the worst Islamist terrorists. A death penalty would be the easy way out for him.
Oh, were you expecting something here?

For someone who usually responds basing everything in logic, this is absolutely void of logic.

What a shame. I feel sorry for whoever the LAST one to die was, who had to wait through all of the other's deaths and watch in horror. My condolences go to the families.

I think the majority of people in Europe, especially in countries like Norway, Sweden and Finland, would entirely agree with the guy's sentiments at their basis. It is the general consensus that the steady Islamic colonization of Europe is a bad thing. However, I think everyone would agree that it takes a special kind of psychopath to go and do something like what he has done. Had he simply tried to spread his message, I think people would have disliked him but some may have heard him, but I'm fairly sure now that his message is completely lost and no one would ever take anything he ever said seriously, apart from other psycho types.

He has caused many more problems for other people who believe the Islamification of Europe is bad, as their message will also forever be tainted by this guys actions.

We're at a pretty dangerous point in places in Europe right now, we're at a tipping point. We have countries in Europe now where there are more Muslims than Christians (Turkey doesn't come in to this, it has always been Islamic), which is odd because I think most people would consider Europe a Christian continent, certainly the majority of the countries within are Christian countries. There is a lot of anger brewing below the surface on both sides of this and it only takes one bloke, like this guy, to tip the balance and set the fireworks off. I personally fear that this kind of event leads to more anger and backlash, which then in turn leads to even more anger and backlash and so on and so forth until Europe is essentially at war with itself.

He could have caused all of Europe far greater problems than we are currently faced with, I hope he never dies.

I'm not going to say that, but I wouldn't be surprised if world war 3 did begin, once again, in Europe and it was essentially Europe vs Islam.

I would describe the current situation here as "there's an atmosphere", I guess. There's certainly an undercurrent of bubbling animosity from one "side" to the other.

According to the news they have corrected the number of victims down to 76,but still, how weak is it to slay innocent teens?BTW,he killed the step brother of someone of the royal family. He worked as private security on the Island and wanted to protect hiis childrens.Well, back to the christian nut.He has asked to wear a special uniform during his process, looks like a general or something. He calls himself the saviour of West-Europe.I hope he gets locked up for the rest for his life or even better, killed.
